Summary:
The Manager, Epic Database Administration and Development is responsible for the overall success of data delivery and availability within the Epic environment. The Manager has strong communication skills, experience with project management, provides direction and leadership to staff, and ensures data management projects align with system goals. Key responsibilities are: database maintenance and upgrade; design and development of new databases; database performance monitoring and tuning; database backup and recovery; database security and access; query performance tuning and optimization; ETL; and maintain and support analytics applications and tools along with the Reporting Team. The Manager will collaborate with business and senior IT leadership to identify and establish data requirements. The Manager will support, promote and drive implementation of best practices in the areas of database administration and development. The Manager demonstrates strong leadership skills. The Manager will work with the Director to lead and promote efforts within the department to help standardize work processes and understand departmental capacity, and promote innovation in all aspects of the teams work. The Manager will also ensure that all database systems enhance and safeguard proprietary patient, family, and employee confidentiality, data integrity, security, and availability to appropriate staff.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required.Minimum of 8 years of experience in information technology required.Minimum of 3 years in a management, supervisory or lead position required.Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Health Care environment preferred.Experience overseeing the design, development, and implementation of database solutions, systems, or products.Data warehouse, data interfaces, and business intelligence solutions and architecture experience.Experience with database administration, optimization, performance tuning, and capacity planning.Experience with current Microsoft SQL Server platforms.Familiarity and practical application of the Microsoft Technology Stack.Experience programming in SAS, R, SQL, or equivalent programming languages.Experience with data warehouse and business intelligence lifecycles.Knowledge of big data.Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, elicitation, modeling, verification and methodology development.The ability to create systematic and consistent requirements specifications in both a technical and user-friendly language.Familiarity and practical application of advanced principles of ITIL/ITSM.Demonstrated progressive experience in the management of a technical support team.Ability to apply statistical and other research methods into systems issues and products as required.
Certification/Licensure:
Epic certification (Cogito Caboodle or Clarity) is required within six (6) months from employment including 1 test retake.Microsoft SQL Server certification is a plus.
