JOB REQUIREMENTS: Duties This position is located at the Clement J.Zablocki VA Medical Center, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Medical SupplyTechnician (Sterile Processing) provides sterilization, preparation,supply items and reusable medical equipment decontamination anddistribution support for the medical center. Duties: -Receivescontaminated critical and semi-critical Reusable Medical Equipment (RME)in the decontamination area and may receive noncritical equipment in thedecontamination area as well. -Disassembles the RME and determines thecorrect cleaning method, such as but not limited to ultrasonic cleaners,mechanical washers, cart washers and chemical cleaning/decontaminationagents, as determined by manufacturer instructions. -Inspects,assembles, and determines the correct method and packaging forsterilization such as but not limited to steam, Sterrad, Steris, andhigh level disinfecting scope reprocessors. -Performs and documentsdaily operational checks and records for all sterilization equipment.-Prepares operating room case carts daily utilizing surgery schedule.-Removes soil, blood, tissue fragments, body fluids and othercontaminants by wiping, soaking, rinsing and scrubbing. -Inspectspackages for indications of proper sterilization, assembles basic setsand trays used throughout the medical center including those used in theoperating room. -Operates equipment involved in sterilization processes.Work Schedule:2nd shift 3pm-1130pm with Holiday and Weekend rotation.Training requirements for a minimum period of 3 months depending onprior SPS experience include but are not limited to: *Week 1:InitialHospital Orientation 8a-430pm *Week 2: 1st Shift 7a-330pm then 1130-8pmuntil determined competent to move to scheduled 2nd shift hoursTelework: Not authorized Virtual: This is not a virtual position.Functional Statement #: PD000000 Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Notauthorized Financial Disclosure Report: Not required RequirementsConditions of Employment You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for thisjob.
