Old Dominion University invites qualified candidates to apply for a 10-month tenure-track faculty position in the School of Dental Hygiene. This is a full-time position at the Assistant Professor rank with an attractive benefits package. In exceptional cases, an Associate Professor appointment with tenure may be considered, subject to review and approval of the Board of Visitors. The School of Dental Hygiene educates both undergraduate and graduate students in the Bachelor’s of Science in Dental Hygiene (entry-level and online post-licensure programs) and the Master’s of Science in Dental Hygiene (on-campus, online, or hybrid). The school maintains an on campus Dental Hygiene Care Facility that provides quality preventive care by dental hygiene students to ODU students, faculty, staff, and the local community. Care provided by dental hygiene students is directly supervised by licensed dental hygiene faculty. Incoming faculty will be expected to maintain an active program of teaching, service, and research, which includes mentoring graduate students in research.

Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities
The successful candidate must:
have experience in teaching and involvement in service;
demonstrate effective oral and written communication; and
have peer reviewed research publication(s).
Minimum Qualifications - Education or training
The successful candidate must have graduated from a Dental Hygiene program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation ( CODA ) and also possess a Master’s degree in Dental Hygiene.
Minimum Qualifications - Special licenses, registration or certification
The successful candidate must possess or be eligible to obtain a Virginia Dental Hygiene license.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred attributes of the ideal candidate include: experience conducting research studies, an earned doctorate, and history of grant funding.
