About Medical Scribe - CV PCU

  POSITION SUMMARY

  The primary role of the medical scribe is to collaborate with the clinical care team in the documentation of a patient’s electronic medical record as well as acting as an assistant in facilitating patient care. Scribes may physically interact with the patient and family under the direction of a Care Team Member.

  PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES

  Accompany members of the care team upon patient interview and examination.

  Document in the electronic medical record elements that have been delegated by the care team including but not limited to elements of the history, examination, or ongoing care.

  Document the correct time of patient care related activities such as assessments, vital signs, or interventions.

  Provide comfort aids such as pillows, blankets, and fluids upon patient request if approved by the care team.

  Assist in acquisition of supplies as directed by the care team.

  Provide service to patients and families with sensitivity and respect for their needs, expectations, age, cultural and individual differences.

  Demonstrate effective communication with other members of the health care team and promotes effective team functioning.

  Respond to patient’s call lights.

  Stock patient rooms with gloves and stocks PPE cabinets.

  10.Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.

  11.Demonstrate dependability, reliability, and flexibility

  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • Work Experience: Not required

  • Licensure: Not Required

  • Certification: AHA, Heartsaver CPR AED upon hire (within 30 days)

  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  o Completion of an approved Medical Terminology Course or upon hire (within 30 days)

  o Basic knowledge and ability to navigate a computer system

  o Typing skills

  PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • Work Experience: Previous Healthcare experience preferred

  • Licensure: Not required

  • Certification: AHA, Heartsaver CPR AED upon hire (within 30 days)

  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  o Completion of an approved Medical Terminology Course or upon hire (within 30 days)

  o Knowledge and ability to navigate a computer system

  o Typing skills

  PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (ADA, Travel, Environment, Noise)

  • Physically agile; may require walking, standing running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing or crouching frequently.

  • Medium work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, with or without assistance.

  • Communicating with others to exchange information.

  • Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
