　　Job Summary

　　The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) is accountable for performing a variety of chemical, hematologic, microscopic and bacteriologic procedures following established standards and practices.Data is used in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Performs all duties and responsibilities in such a way as to demonstrate and support the hospital's Catholic and Benedictine heritage and Avera co-sponsorship values of hospitality, compassion and stewardship.Provides care/service in accordance with regulatory and accrediting agencies standards and Catholic Religious Directives.Education and/or Experience

　　Bachelors Degree in Medical Laboratory Scientist and one or two years of Medical Laboratory Scientist experience/training acceptable to ASCP or AMT. New grads acceptable.Licensure/Certification/Registration

　　Certification as Medical Laboratory Scientist from ASCP or AMT required within one year of hire.Work Schedule

　　Varied ShiftsEvery third weekend/holiday night shift80 hours every 2 weeksPay
