BETTER TOGETHER The MedicalCoding Specialist is responsible for reviewing electronic encounterdocuments to ensure that the codes provided by the practitioners areaccurate per coding protocols and comply with all establishedguidelines. The Medical Coding Specialist is responsible for assigningapplicable codes to the medical records to ensure accuracy andcompleteness. The incumbent assists in providing coding education andrequired documentation criteria to practitioners and their staff andparticipates in job-related research projects. This position isresponsible for reviewing insurance claims to determine possible codingerrors and researching coding guidelines to support any insurance claimdenials based on coding guidelines. As assigned, the incumbent mayassist the Medical Coding Manager in various administrative tasks. TheMedical Coding Specialist works under the general supervision andguidance of the Medical Coding Supervisor.
