Medical Assistant opportunity in the Sarcoma & Orthopaedic Center. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of Medical Assistant experience; preferably in an oncology or orthopedic setting.
Shift: 8am - 4:30pm or 8:30am - 5pm Monday-Friday
SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the Medical Assistant position is to provide patient care and customer service assistance to the ambulatory care patient as delegated and support daily operations of the center.
KEY FUNCTIONS
Assists Staff:
Responsibilities include completion of routine patient care assignments as delegated. Accurately record vital signs and other data, report abnormalities to nursing staff.
Assists Patients:
Aids in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, greeting, rooming, and vital signs.
Work Environment:
Maintains environment in a clean, safe, and orderly manner. Stock and maintain unit and patient care supplies and equipment.
Effective Communication:
Escalates significant events and concerns regarding patients and their care to appropriate nursing staff. Responsible for the security and confidentiality of patient information at all times
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Required: High school diploma/equivalent.
Preferred: Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program or US Military medical services training program.
EXPERIENCE
Required: One year of medical assistant experience. With preferred degree, no experience is required.
Preferred: Two years of medical assistant experience; preferably in an oncology or orthopedic setting.

Required: None
Preferred: Certified by one of the following based on Medical Assistant experience or preferred education: Certified by one of the following based on Medical Assistant experience or preferred education:
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by the American Society of Medical Technologists (AMT)
Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
