Job Summary: This position will have both Medical Assistant as well as Patient Service Coordinator responsibilities. Works in a customer service capacity providing administrative and clerical support to patients and customers in an outpatient clinic and/or medical office setting. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or Physician, the Medical Assistant performs delegated functions as a member of the patient care team to provide a variety of multi-skilled services. These activities contribute to meeting the health care, safety and comfort needs of patients, and are performed in accordance with all existing regulatory, state and company standards, policies and procedures. Duties to include; room patients andEMR. Administrative Responsibilities: • Greets patients and visitors, checks patients in and out, and obtains necessary documentation. Verifies and enters demographic information. • Obtains and verifies insurance authorizations/precertification. Completes medical record release requests and schedules/confirms patient appointments. • Enters, reviews and submits charges for patient procedures and services daily. Licensure: * MA Certificate or MA diploma required from a recognized program acceptable. Work Experience: * One or more years of clerical/receptionist experience preferably in a hospital outpatient or physician office setting. * Competency in basic medical assisting skills. * Including, rooming patients, assisting provider with exams, performing hearing tests, answering phones, scheduling appointments and surgeries. * Strong working knowledge of medical terminology.
