Scope
1.Performs general administrative and patient care tasks in accordance withthe Intermountain Health MGPSMA Scope of Practice, and other establishedpolicies and procedures.2. Possesses the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically withina multi- disciplinary care team.3. Greets and prepare patients for the health care provider while maintaininga positive and caring attitude.4. Attentive to patient's needs, coordinates care, administers care,and documents appropriately.5. Provides for patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights byobserving HIPAA regulations6. Obtains and record patient information; vital signs, height,weight, allergies, current medications, medical history, and chiefcomplaint, e7. Demonstrates knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment roomprocedures.8. May be required to draw and collect blood samples and prepare specimens forlaboratory analysis.9. Per Provider request, may perform routine tests including but not limitedto EKGs, hearing and vision screens.10. Schedules patients for diagnostic testing and follow up as appropriate toensure completion of testing.11. Communicates test results to patients and establish plan of care by phoneor mail as directed by the Provider.12. Documents patient plan(s) of care, tests and examination results inthe medical record as directed by the provider.13. Prepares, clean and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment;stock patient exam rooms while maintaining cleanliness and organization anddispose of contaminated items according to protocol.14. Administers ordered medications and/or vaccines via oral, injection,topical, rectal, ophthalmic, and/or inhalant administration.15. Escalates non-routine issues, questions and/or concerns to thepractice manager and/or healthcare provider(s).16. Ensures safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required.17. Demonstrates sound judgment and composure with the ability to takeappropriate action in questionable or emergency situations.18. Promotes mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health, andabides by service behavior standards.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program and/or be a certifiedMedical Assistant.
Current BLS Certification is required upon hire or within 60 days of hire uponapprovalThree (3) months previous experience within a healthcare setting is required.Preferred
One (1) year Medical Assistant experience.
Successful completion of an Accredited National Certification Exam forCertified Medical Assistants (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant(RMA) is preferred
