Position Purpose :
The Mechanical Tech will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks in the Hospital including operating hot water generators, steam boilers, chillers, oil, and water pumps, cooling towers, keeping assigned areas clean, and monitoring the energy management systems for the safe operation of the hospital, performs a variety of tasks to include installation, preventative maintenance, and repair of hospital non-clinical equipment and systems.
What you will do:
Operating hot water systems, maintaining proper output temperature relative to the outside temperature for the safety and comfort of patients, visitors, and staff of the hospital.
Following specific instructions operates steam boiler system on gas or oil, maintains logs and reports malfunctions or calls contract service company, when necessary.
Continually monitors smoke recorder when operating on oil and cleans smoke monitor lenses as necessary.
Monitoring chiller operations adjusting as necessary; performs and records hourly readings, adjusting as necessary to maintain a comfort level in the hospital. Reports any malfunctions.
Monitoring operation of cooling towers, observing for algae in summer or ice in winter.
Monitors the energy management and climate control systems adjusting as necessary.
Performing a variety of duties that include installation, preventative maintenance, and repairing of equipment in a timely, safe, and professional manner.
Repairing/replacing parts to a variety of hospital equipment including minor plumbing, and small electrical appliances to ensure a safe and pleasant environment of care.
Minimum Qualifications :
Trade School or High School graduate or equivalent
Six (6) to ten (10) years’ experience in general electrical, mechanical, machinist, HVAC and/or plumbing works, preferably in a health care setting
Participation in or completion of a Journeyman program in any trade is highly desirable.
