Description:
Core focus area for this Project Mechanical Engineer will be dealing with MMR's (Machine Modification Requests) from various areas of the plant including maintenance, quality, engineering, safety, etc. This candidate will work primarily in a cubicle reviewing machine design builds and layout plans for production. There will be times where the candidate is required to walk the plant to get a visual on the facility and understanding of machine requirements for capital improvement projects. This person will work along with other engineers but will not manage anyone. Must understand CAD layout and some design may be required but most of the design has already been completed, just need to understand the design builds etc. Projects can range anywhere from 20k up to 20M are the variety of projects they are currently working on etc. Key Responsibilities: • Design and Redesign of manufacturing equipment for process improvement, scrap reduction, quality, safety, encompassing a wide array of rubber manufacturing technologies (extrusion lines, mills, calendars, and raw materials mixing) • Design and retrofit of hardware to update legacy manufacturing equipment to current environmental standards with a primary focus on VOC emission reduction • Provide time lines, BOMs, cost estimates, and detailed FMEA type analysis of new capital investment projects • Extensive project management: Author bid specifications and installation procedures for new manufacturing equipment, as well as manage design and project reviews spanning suppliers in Europe and America • CAD hardware and software technical liaison to department head, facilitating migration from legacy Windows, Solidworks, and Autocad products to current industry standards as well as developing document management strategies for new data formats • Use of Solidworks for 3D modeling and 2D drawing software • Use of AutoCAD 2012 for 2D for legacy drawings for maintenance and vendor support This person will be measured on successful completion of projects and ability to work with engineering and maintenance teams. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing 2-3+ projects simultaneously until completion date. Completion date is based on capital project schedules and shutdown periods within the plant.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Must Have Qualifications: • Need at least a 6 commitment for this work. • 5-7+ years of experience with the design and redesign of manufacturing equipment for process improvement, scrap reduction, quality, safety, etc. • Experience with capital equipment upgrades, start-ups and installations • Ability to utilize both AutoCAD 2012 and a 3D Modeling tool (Solidworks preferred) • Minimum Associate’s Degree (Engineering related) Preferred Qualifications: • Experience designing, redesigning, and working with rubber manufacturing technologies (extrusion lines, mills, calendars, and raw materials mixing) • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering DISQUALIFIERS: * Lack of initiative, motivation, and responsiveness in communication.
