Job DescriptionSundyne's PPI (Pressure Products Industries) product linemanufactures, tests, overhauls and repairs low- tomoderate-speed reciprocating diaphragm compressors for petroleum, chemicaland gas industry services.This position is for a Mechanical Engineer to directly support Sundyne'sreciprocating diaphragm compressorassembly, testing, overhauling and repairing activities.
Duties and Responsibilities* Review customer order and specifications. Verify compressor designs throughin-house calculationspreadsheets. Ensure project requirements and manufacturing details arecaptured andcommunicated effectively to A&T, Project Management and Operationsaccording to companystandards.* Knowledge of applicable industry standards (API-618, 692, 614,NEMA, ASME Pressure Vessel Code,AGMA, NACE, etc.)* Detailed engineering of compressor support systems in accordance with thelatest API Standards(main & auxiliary drivers, heat exchangers, heaters, pumps,instruments, gages, control valves andsystems, etc.)* Create diaphragm compressor bills of material specific to each order usingconfiguration tools.* Aid in the disposition of non-conforming parts and troubleshoot failurepoints during testing andcommissioning.* Look for and communicate continuous improvement of both products andprocesses.* Provide direction to design/drafting resources* Conduct pre-release design reviews* Create and/or review and approve engineering drawings and documentation;compressor datasheets, cross-sectional drawings, build data sheets, quality/testreports, etc.* Active engagement in final inspection of all reciprocating diaphragmcompressors before shipment.* Strong technical direction of compressor diagnosis, overhaul and repairefforts in response tocustomer warranty claims and operational issues in the field.* Work with engineering, purchasing, and A&T personnel to specifycomponents and required set-upfor assembly and testing as governed by Sundyne and/or customer specs.* Interact with customers, engineering, and third-party inspectors duringall stages of witness testing.* Lead design oversight and safe operation of Sundyne's diaphragm compressortesting facility,including customization of test loop P&ID's as required.* Oversee scope of work including hydrostatic and gas leakage tests,mechanical running tests, I&C(Instrumentation & Control) functional testing and troubleshooting* Responsible for test data review and approval and test report generation* Assist Application Engineering and Sales in winning new business
Skills & AbilitiesPreferred* Previous experience with design/testing/operation of rotatingequipment, preferablycompressors or pumps.* Previous experience with Controls and/or PLC automation is a plus* Familiarity with the oil and gas industry and gas processing stronglypreferred. Alternativeenergy experience (H2 refueling) a definite plus.* Relentless drive for improvements in safety, quality and processes* Competency with Excel VBA macros or willingness to learn.* Practice Lean manufacturing/six sigma methodology to maintainbest-in-class wor -space,safety and preventative maintenance
