Description:
Brief Overview:
They are the world leading producer of machines/equipment made for food & beverage manufacturing. They have a growing facility in Indianapolis, IN where they do all engineering from design, fabrication, assembly, and testing. They are looking for a Mechanical Designer as an addition to their team to support current increased workload, as well as growing their engineering team in Indy (currently engineering sits at 4 within headcount). They want this new Mechanical Designer to work side by side with the Pennsylvania team engineer in their design of new machinery with a focus of these machines being shipped out Indy. Traditionally, the Indy plant has been looked at as aftermarket sales team but drive for growth has turned their manufacturing into new machine manufacturing. At the beginning , they might work together on projects, but once brought up to speed, you will be tied to your own projects.
This Mechanical Designer will perform machine design utilizing Solid Edge. They will need to design for both components and assemblies, and will mostly be designing with steel, aluminum, sheet metal for the mechanical aspects of the machinery.
They will need to work within the Bill of Materials, as well as work well cross functionally with other engineering groups at headquarters in Robesonia, Pennsylvania. They will need to have a good understanding of GD&T and variety of stress calculations. It is a great place to work if you are looking for stability and a long-term home.
70% of this engineers’ time will be designing new machines/equipment and modifying machine designs.
30% of the time will be helping troubleshoot on the floor (troubleshoot product designs and feasibility while assembling/testing)

Ensures drawings satisfy the required engineering and manufacturing standards.
Completes Bills of Materials by listing drawing number for manufactured parts and matching their part numbers to vendor part numbers for purchased components.
May be asked to provide functional guidance and direction to less qualified drafters on operating the CAD system, applying their standards for three-dimensional modeling, drawings, material selection, component parts, and system designs.
