Position Summary
The PACCAR engineering team is looking for a driven and enthusiastic engineer to lead development of zero-emission powertrain systems. This role will focus on development and integration of thermal management components. The employee will be a member of a team responsible for defining, designing, validating and implementing these systems in support of PACCAR’s development of zero-emission vehicles. The employee will collaborate with a variety of disciplines including design, manufacturing, and validation roles as they work to integrate powertrain and thermal management components into medium-duty vehicles. In this role you will work to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions while supporting goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
Utilize Creo software to develop design concepts and package components within the vehicle environment.
Define requirements for, evaluate, design, and select powertrain and cooling systems appropriate for PACCAR zero emission vehicles
Define integration requirements and lead the implementation into medium and heavy duty trucks
Collaborate with software engineering teams to define and validate embedded system controls
Lead and track activities of component suppliers. Define schedules, track progress, and drive suppliers to meet program schedules and milestones
Communicate design and project status to team and stakeholders on a regular basis and facilitate technology transfer between PACCAR divisions
Qualifications / Skills
BSME or equivalent engineering degree required; Master's Degree and PE license preferred
Passion and interest in working on commercial vehicle powertrains, including next generation electrified drivetrains and vehicles
Overall product knowledge required; engine, cooling, and transmission system experience preferred
Demonstrated prior design experience; project management, and/or design lead experience preferred
Experience working within a gated product creation process desired
Demonstrated CAD / 3D Modeling experience; Creo preferred
Experience with system-level requirements development, component selection, integration, performance, and validation
Previously demonstrated resourcefulness, strong technical knowledge, analytical capability, and communication skills.
Self-directed with excellent analysis and engineering judgement
Collaborative nature, fosters a sense of team across groups and cultures
Demonstrated high levels of initiative and innovation
Ability to perform in a fast-pace, results-oriented environment, while managing multiple priorities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Up to 10% travel possible

The salary range for Mechanical Design Engineer- Zero Emissions Thermal Management is $72,200-$108,000 annually. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift. Additionally, this role is eligible for the full range of benefit options listed above.
