Job Summary
Dominion Energy seeks a Consulting Engineer (Mechanical) to join the Nuclear Engineering Subsequent License Renewal team at the Dominion Energy’s Innsbrook, VA Offices with an occasional presence required at Dominions Energy’s Surry Power Station in Surry, VA.
The position will be filled with a highly motivated individual that will lead and support engineering activities in the development and management of an eight (8) year Nuclear Steam Generator Replacement Project. The selected individual will provide this multi-discipline nuclear engineering team with strong technical leadership within this major effort. This individual must possess and apply advanced knowledge and technical skills to solve complex engineering problems, work directly with project management to set course on technical decision making, and provide manufacturing oversight of a Nuclear Safety Related, 10 CFR part 50, Appendix B, and NQA-1-1994 Component. They will serve as a management consultant on complex engineering problems and control technical and service commitments to internal or external stakeholders. They may be required to perform independent research to find innovative and/or cost-effective engineering solutions to project related problems and perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Must have 10 years of Mechanical engineering experience. Must have a completed ABET accredited Mechanical engineering degree(other engineering disciplines may be considered based on direct Major Project experience). 5 years direct experience in the design and manufacture of major Nuclear components. In depth knowledge of codes, regulations and practices. Strong technical and organizational leadership skills. Equally effective working independently or in team environment. Proven decision-making skills. Ability to process information quickly and effectively manages multiple tasks. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Willing to get into the field and perform walkdowns, project management activities and support of testing and troubleshooting of plant modifications.
Preferred: Nuclear Component Manufacturing oversight experience; Nuclear Construction and Project Implementation experience; Previously qualified or ability to qualify in the Standard Design Process, Engineering Calculations, Specifications and similar Nuclear Qualifications; Previous 10CFR50.59 Training; PE certification.
REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA: For placement of a candidate in a Consulting Engineer title, the following criteria must be met: Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technologyand a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
