Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on all equipment and structures associated with the treatment plant and pumping stations. Duties include:? Ensures all equipment is functioning properly and that all backup systems are ready to be put on-line as needed.? Performs preventative flushing of the sewer collection systems.? Performs all preventive maintenance functions.? Lubricates motors and equipment and checks for malfunctions.? Replaces bearings in motors, pumps, and other equipment.? Adjusts and cleans wastewater equipment.? Installs and sets up new equipment.? Drives trucks and plows snow, and operates Flushing truck.? Cleans out pipes and performs other plumbing and pipefitting tasks.? Assists in pump and engine maintenance and repair.? Uses gas and/or arc welding equipment to heat, cut, braze, or weld.? Performs duties of painter absence.? Checks boilers and generators at pump stations and plant.? Performs various custodial duties.? Performs all duties of an Operator as needed.? Must work overtime at any time of day or night as required.? Performs related work as required.Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED, and at least three years experience as a maintenance mechanic in a manufacturing setting; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.Special Note: This is an entry level position. The selected candidates will receive training to receive the necessary licenses. All persons with mechanical aptitude are encouraged to apply.Special Requirement: Applicants must possess a Grade I Wastewater Operator License issued by the State of Rhode Island or obtain within one year of date of hire. Must also possess a valid State of Rhode Island Commercial Drivers License or obtain within 1 year of employment. These licenses must be obtained within one year of appointment and maintained as a condition of continued employment. All applicants will be subject to a drivers license check for the last two years and a criminal background check.
