　　Summary

　　Mechanic B-Electrical Shop Electricians conduct general and specialized installation, maintenance and repair on various types of electrical equipment.

　　Roles and Responsibilities

　　Must present one of the following: New Jersey Electrical License, Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship Electrician from the NJ Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship OR five (5) years of electrical experience in commercial, industrial and/or residential environments.

　　Ability to read and interpret technical documents, wiring diagrams, schematics, construction drawings, etc.

　　Experience with troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems.

　　Must pass New Jersey Transit’s Electrician Aptitude Test.

　　Present a valid driver’s license and High School Diploma or GED.

　　Successfully pass the pre-screening process including drug test, physical, and criminal, employer, and driving background checks.

　　Education, Experience, and Qualifications

　　Installing low or medium voltage equipment, panels, motors, controls, etc.

　　Installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic systems, PLC’s, Controllers, Computers, Alarms, PA’s, etc.

　　Test equipment such as multi-meters, insulation testing, phasing, etc.

　　Using and understanding code requirements, including NEC, NESC, OSHA, IEEE, NFPA, etc.

　　Prior railroad, transportation, or military experience

　　Physical Requirements

　　Stoop, bend, crawl, balance, climb, kneel

　　Be exposed to equipment that intensifies the heat factor on an occasional basis

　　Wear protective equipment such as hardhat, safety glasses, and safety-toe boots
