Position Summary We are seeking a 1st Shift TurbineMechanic to work out of our Milwaukee Service Center. This position isresponsible for the disassembly, assembly, and mechanical operations ona variety of steam turbine spindles, casings, and valves where methodsare standardized and prescribed. Work from assembly drawings andspecifications to do skilled fitting, aligning, and adjusting along withsome secondary machining. Use a wide variety of precision measuringinstruments and gauging devices. Essential Duties Receive and inspectincoming turbine components, take digital pictures of shippingcontainer, cribbing, rigging techniques, and all parts. Measure andrecord the critical dimensions of the turbine components. Charting ofthe disassembly of the blades and proper labeling. Perform proper bladestraightening and repairs procedures. Perform blade setlliting andstiffener repairs technique. Remove and install seals, disassemble, andassemble valves, and perform blade ring assembly procedures. Repair orrebuild hydrogen seal assemblies and rigging and shipping skid setup.Operate the manual grinding, milling, turning, and sawing machinery asrequired for installation and final fitting of turbine blade seals, andvalves. Follow and comply with all safety and work rules andregulations. Education and Required Experience 10+ years mechanicalbackground with turbine experience a plus 5 years basic machiningpractices. Ability to properly operate overhead cranes and lift trucks.Solid math skills with the ability to add, subtract, multiply, anddivide numbers including decimals and fractions. Simple use of formulas,blueprints, specifications, and tables. Capable of using various typesof precision measuring instruments. Knowledge of design and basicmechanical principles. Ability to work from engineering drawings andprocess drawings Pendant crane certified 5 & 10 ton and greater withbasic to advanced hitching knowledge. Honing and lapping, gland packing,use of radio-controlled bridge cranes, blading, babbiting, radial drillpress, turbine alignment, tight wire, and oil seal repair. Determine sequence of operation. Select, align, andsecure holding fixtures and cutting tools. Calculates and sets controlsto regulate machining factors, such as speed, feed, flow, anddepth/angle of cut. Set up and operate machine on trial run to verifyaccuracy of machine settings or programmed control data. May entercommands to retrieve, input or edit programs. Start, observe machineoperation to detect malfunctions or out-of-balance machining and adjustmachine as required. May confer with engineers, product personnel,programmers, or others to resolve machining problems. Performinspections at the machine to verify part is to specifications. Performdaily and weekly maintenance on machines as outlined in preventativemaintenance procedures. Maintain clean and orderly workstations by theirassigned machines. Support supervisor and in process development andtooling development. Be an active team member in 5-S initiatives. Trainand assist other operators in variety of machine tools. Willingness tosupport other departments to meet customer schedules and demands, thisincludes but not limited to performing assembly work, running manualmachines like Bridgeport mills and grinders. Operate cranes and forktrucks.
