Job Description
General Description
The Liberty Partnerships Program at Queensborough Community College is an afterschool and weekend college readiness program for junior high school and high school students attending schools throughout the borough of Queens. This project is funded by the New York State Education Department.
The program is looking to fill three math and other subjects tutor positions, who will also assist with the supervision of the tutoring room and students during lunch and signing in and out.
Other Duties
Tutor students in math individually and group.
Assess the level of skill and address collective math deficiency.
Assist with the students' sign in and out.
Assist with the supervision of students during the lunch hour and in the tutoring room.
Attend debriefing meetings at the end of the day.
Write reports on the progress of students and fill out tutoring logs to be submitted at the end of the day.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Must be a high school graduate, or a college student or college graduate.
Must be proficient in math.
Must be prepared to take a math quiz.
Must be committed to consistency with students from Saturday to Saturday.
Must be punctual and reliable and aware of program retention of students.
Must be a role model to JHS and HS students preparing to transition to college.
Must be able to operate audio visual equipment in the classroom.
