Overview:
The Material Handler III, provides warehouse services assigned throughsafe, efficient, cost effective and accurate handling of customerproducts and material using specially equipped trucks such asslips-sheet, clamps and reach. This position may involve all phases ofloading, unloading, staging and storage of customer's product as wellas the use of computer equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Loading Unloading
Load picked orders or (pull load) according to policies andprocedures, completing appropriate paperwork including Bill ofLading, Pick Report, Trailer Audit and Lot Verification.Unload, move, stack and stage customer products and materials bothby hand and using forklift or other power equipment, keepingappropriate records and reports.Pulling Orders
Accurately locate and load, both by hand and using appropriatemotorized equipment (i.e. forklift truck), customer productonto/from pallets, trays, racks and shelves according to establishedprocedures and safety regulations. Is able to operate specialequipment as necessary, such as a turret clamp and slip sheetequipment and RF unit (if applicable).Count, weigh and record number of units of materials handled ondaily production sheet.Complete specialized order processing for loading by stenciling,slip-sheeting, shrink wrapping, labeling and consolidating asrequired on order.Operating Maintenance - Equipment and Grounds
Assign / verify trailers to appropriate dock and/or yard location,trailers locked to dock-lock and/ or chocking the wheels (ifapplicable), following all safety rules and Company policy.Daily inspect and repair or make adjustments before operatingtow-motor vehicles, following safety and maintenance instructions,completing the tow-motor inspection sheet at the beginning of eachshift and/or assigned to another piece of equipment; reportimmediately any defective equipment to supervisor.Prepare trailers prior to loading product by inspecting and cleaningas needed to ensure product preservation.Assists in building and grounds maintenance to ensure that thefacility is maintained in a clean, neat safe and orderly manner.Reports
Complete activity and statistical reports as assigned by supervisor.Assist in physical inventories ensuring facility and contents aresecure.Miscellaneous
Provide other services such as sanitation requirement activities,assembling crates (boxes) to contain products, and/or moving loosematerials to containers as directed by supervisor and/or teamleader.Key Results:
Apply the APL Logistics Continuous Improvement (ACI) Model foroperational efficiency to improve business process, increaseproficiency and increase efficiency through waste elimination.Apply the 5S Lean methodology to sustain a safe, clean and orderlyfacility.Position requires the incumbent's performance to meet andoccasionally exceed standards as set by the company for warehousesafety, food safety, sanitation, quality, productivity and customerservice.QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications:
High School degree or equivalent requiredTwo (2) years forklift/tow motor experience required including forklift certification preferred.Knowledge of inventory control and general warehouse procedures.Light data entry skills requiredAbility to read and comprehend basic instructions, to interpretdocuments such as safety rules, operating and maintenanceinstruc ions and proceduresAbility to operate forklift - both sit down and stand up, tow motor,motorized and non motorized pallet jack; clamp, reach and slipsheet.Ability to write legiblyMust have basic math skillsAbility to make decisions on customer acceptance based on pastexperience and fitness for useMust have attention to detail for continuous mental and visualattentionData entry skillsLanguage skills - EnglishMust have attention to detail for continuous mental and visualattentionMust be a Team PlayerAbility to communicate in a professional and positive mannerAdditional Knowledge, Skills Abilities
