Description/Job Summary
Material Control Coordinator
Position Objective
To oversee incoming material being received and ordering needed materials for plant operations. To ensure that all material used for packaging finished product are of correct sizes needed and that packing codes are set up for auto-deducting these as used from inventory.
Authority / Decision Making
Authorized to make any decisions concerning the ordering of packaging material to control inventory levels.
Authorize to make decisions concerning the changing of pack codes pallet configurations, and packaging styles.
Duties & Responsibilities
Task and Duties
To provide leadership and direction to the Material Handlers for the purpose of maintaining the material within the coordinators areas of stewardship.
To provide assistance to the clerk and the material handlers within their respective areas.
To substitute for the manager or senior lead in his / her absence.
To check sequence daily for new orders added.
To ensure that cartons, cores, sleeves, resin masterbatch, etc., are on hand when order is scheduled to run.
To communicate with N.J. Material Control, vendors, and N.J. Scheduling to coordinate the arrival of needed material, through the Central Warehouse and into the satellite warehouse.
Reports to the Manager any delays or problems encountered with 6.
To check inventory figures and reports to investigate variance daily, reporting the findings to the Manager.
To assign railcars to appropriate silos when silos are low or empty.
To verify the quantity of the material from railcars by taking physical inventory of material after railcar has been emptied, match physical quantity to bill of lading. If material is off more than 5552 lbs., report to manager.
Randomly spot check railcars pumped to verify that all material was pumped out, at least 2 per week, written report required showing date and cars.
Inventory weekly and month end.
To set up carton specifications and pallet configurations for new orders as requested by New Jersey marketing Dept.
Fill out S.S.A. forms and PR's for new materials.
Assign packing codes to auto deduct materials used for each order,
Cost reduction opportunity by looking at inner packaging, outer cartons, pallets, stretch wrap, labels, pads, twist ties, etc.
Check existing packing codes to optimize volume capacity, weight limit capacity to lower transportation cost.
Must have regular, reliable attendance, and willing to work outside the regular schedule as required.
Willing to handle job stress and interact with others in the workplace.
Machinery and Electrical Equipment
Computer and Software.
Calculator, printer, fax, phone, copier, and scanner.
Knowledge of the equipment in the Plant preferred.
Physical and Visual Activity RequiredPhysical
Climbing, ascending or descending stairs, ramps, and the like using feet and legs and or, hands and arms, body agility is emphasized.
Balancing, maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching for prolonged periods of time.
Occasional use of hands, fingers, arms in use of typing, calculations, or handwriting.
Ability to hear and perceive sounds with no less than 40db loss @ 500, 1000 Hz.
Good physical health and condition to relieve symptoms of stress and fatigue.
Visual
The ability to read with either corrected or uncorrected vision.Work Environment ConditionMajority of the work is inside protected for normal weather related conditions.
Subject to periods of heat greater than 80 degrees F.
Subject to periods of cold 20 degrees or lower.
Preferred Qualifications
High School Graduate, College Education desired.Required Qualifications
1 year experience in Material Control functions.
Good verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of Data Based computer software.
