The Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking a Registered Nurseto serve as Medication Administration Program (MAP) Coordinator. The incumbent will provide all DMH MAP Registered sites/programs in the area with technical assistance and oversight of the Medication Administration Program (MAP) to ensure compliance with Department of Public Health (DPH) and DMH regulations and policies. As part of ensuring compliance the MAP Coordinator conducts annual on-site compliance reviews and technical assistance utilizing data derived from Department of Public Health Clinical Review, DMH MAP Technical Assistance Tool, and/or DMH Licensing survey visits at all MAP registered sites in the area. In addition, MAP Coordinator is also responsible for providing guidance and clarification on MAP policies and regulations to ensure that site/providers are adhering tomedication-related quality assurance standards. The MAP Coordinator is expected to maintain communication with DMH Area offices and to the sites/programs regarding findings, trends, and corrective action responses that are identified during site reviews and/or follow up site visits. Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the Medication Occurrence Report (MOR) system and identifying patterns which may indicate the need for technical assistance and/or necessary corrective action and communicate this information to the DMH Area offices and sites/programs. MAP Coordinator willparticipate in meetings withArea leadershipand DMHcontractproviderson MAP- related issues. This position collaborates with area oversight entities, e.g., Licensing and Quality Assurance, as well as with DPH inspectors,clinical reviewer, and other State Agencies participating in MAPon collecting data, improving, and implementing policies, curriculum, testing and training topics. Employees in this position will be required to perform mandatory overtime.// // /_Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive)_/ * Assist Area MAP programs with the establishment of medication-related quality assurance standards. * Provide site/program/provider specific technical assistance and oversight of MAP to ensure compliance with DPH and DMH regulations and polices. * Utilized data derived from Department of Public Health (DPH) Clinical Review, DMH MAP Technical Assistance Tool, and/or DMH Licensing surveys to support compliance with MAP regulations and policies. * Performs annual and as needed Technical Assistance visits at all MAP registered sites in Area * Clarify and provides guidance around MAP policies and regulations and ensures site/provider compliance with same * Oversees the Medication Occurrence Report (MOR) system, tracking data and identifying patterns which may indicate that technical assistance and/or corrective action is necessary * Collaborates and maintains communication with Area oversight entities, e.g., licensing and Quality Assurance, as well as with DPH inspectors and clinical reviewer * Participates in Area in meetings with DMH provider agencies around MAP-related issues * Participate in statewide "Train the Trainer" program, including registering nurses for the course * Performs MAP Certification/Recertification testing as necessary, at various locations throughout assigned Area using established protocols, curriculum, practices, and procedures. * Collaborates with State agencies participating in MAP on collecting data, improving, and implementing policies, curriculum, testing and training related topics * Maintain accurate records, prepare comprehensive reports on MAP related activities _Required Qualifications__:_ * Current and valid Massachusetts registration nursing license * Knowledge of medication related DMH and DPH regulations andpolicies * Experience with conducting medication-related program audits and providing technical assistance. * Knowledge of the types and characteristics of drugs used in diagnosing, treating and controlling physical, mental, and/or emotional disorders. * Desire to engage in teaching. * Ability to plan and present trainings in a precise, understandable manner to persons of a variety of disciplines. * Capacity to deal tactfully, and to establish and maintain a rapport with a variety of individuals. * Ability to adaptand implement changes related to policies, and regulations. * Ability to understand, explain and apply the laws, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines related to compliance and implementation of MAP * Capacity to collect and analyze MAP-related data to support policy and regulation changes * Ability to understand, support and implement the principles of race, equity, and inclusion * Proficient usage of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook. _Preferred Qualifications:_ * Experience with DMH community systems * Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency _Special Requirements:_As frequent travel is necessary in this position, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's license is required. /_DMH Mission Statement:_/ The Department of Mental Health assures and provides access to services and supports to meet the mental health needs of individuals of all ages, enabling them to live, work and participate in their communities.
