Ketjen Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Albemarle Corporation, s currently seeking an experienced Process Technology Engineer (Manufacturing Process Engineer III) to work within the Organometallics and Specialties Technology Resources group at our Pasadena, TX location. The Technology Resources group develops and executes projects to materially improve existing processes at the Pasadena location.
Responsibilities include
Evaluating existing plant systems and define robust and innovative solutions with limited oversight
Collaborating with other engineers and stakeholders to develop process design scope packages for capital projects, debottlenecking efforts, increases in plant capacity, major operability improvements, improvements in plant HS&E performance, etc.
Leading and supporting cost improvement programs (reducing raw material utilizations, energy usage)
Conducting capital project evaluation, high-level process design, and process commissioning
Leading or supporting environmental projects or quality improvements
Performing process evaluation, development, scale-up, design, safety analysis, and startup support
Providing technical support to specific manufacturing areas requiring troubleshooting for issues requiring in-depth study
Interacting with multiple internal departments, internal business management, and plant management
Documenting technology and know-how in order to pass on learned knowledge
Continual development of professional skillset
Basic Requirements
B.S. in Chemical Engineering with minimum of 3 years of experience in an operating chemical plant environment or process design group.
Excellent command of material and energy balance calculations.
Strong command of chemical engineering fundamentals
Practical knowledge of some common process equipment such as distillation columns, pumps, heat exchangers, reactors, filters, piping, etc.
Solid academic background and work history
Basic instrumentation knowledge (e.g. level, flow, pressure, etc.)
Working knowledge of basic process economic calculations
Strong commitment to safety and operating in an environmental friendly way
Initiative, creativity, and problem solving abilities
Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects at a given time
Ability to adapt to changing environment
Excellent written, verbal, computer, and interpersonal skills
Desired Qualifications:
3 plus years of applicable industrial polyolefin catalyst or specialty chemical industry experience
Practical knowledge of some common process equipment such as distillation columns, pumps, heat exchangers, reactors, filters, piping, etc.
Demonstrated success in identifying and implementing projects leading to significant improvements in cost, quality, HS&E, capacity or operability.
Hands on experience in an operating plant
Familiarity with Process Safety Management elements and systems (MOCs, etc.)
Experience in environmental regulatory programs found in the Houston area
