Position Summary:
This pivotal leadership position will manage and advise the day-to-day activities of the Manufacturing Engineering team. Support achievement of operational critical metric targets through daily management and continuous improvement initiatives. Manage and implement manufacturing engineering aspects of new product launches, including tooling and fixtures, poka-yoke, process validation, and process automation.
As the FBSL you will provide continuous improvement leadership, coaching and direction for the implementation of the Fortive Business System
Essential Job Responsibilities
Coordinate manufacturing engineering team support to meet and exceed customer expectations on quality and delivery.
Applies manufacturing engineering team’s skills to troubleshoot process failures, equipment failures, and quality issues, identify root cause and implement solutions.
Plans and completes improvement initiatives in Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SQDC).
Work with Product Development team to ensure Design for Manufacturability and coordinate support to ensure timely launch of products within budget.
Works cross-functionally to develop and deliver robust processes, equipment and documentation applying standard work methodologies to meet planned production rates and quality requirements.
Design and develop tooling fixtures and automation and testing equipment by applying knowledge of product design and manufacturing processes, developing/applying product performance specifications, developing/applying process acceptance criteria and designing and performing product /system testing.
Coordinate the creation and execution of PFMEA’s, qualification and validation protocols to verify equipment/process capabilities.
Champion innovative engineering technology by: Evaluating new technologies, driving technology initiatives, performing research and development, and establishing next-generation engineering solutions as they pertain to manufacturing processes.
Assist with developing long-range planning of capital for site and authoring request for capital expenditure.
Manage capital projects to select, design, procure, install and qualify new manufacturing equipment.
Apply and maintain current knowledge of engineering tools/methods/techniques to meet technical needs, including appropriate usage of engineering tools (e.g. PC, CAD, FMEA, GD&T), problem solving/resolution techniques, continuous improvement/cost reduction (e.g. Kaizen, VAVE).
Control expenditures within limitations operating expense, NPI project and capital budgets.
Acts as a Fortive Business System (FBS) champion; Promotes the lean culture and drives continuous improvement in areas of responsibility and cross functionally as appropriate. Leads Kaizens and uses daily and visual management to identify and quickly mitigate SQDC issues.
Set the FBS strategy and lead the implementation of FBS at the site
Drive site awareness and interest in the different functions of FBS Tools
Promote and facilitate employee development in various FBS tools by conducting virtual and on-site workshops. Deploy training materials (manuals, presentations, exercises, etc.) to support those events.
Assist Leadership in the development of FBS Roadmaps (i.e. how to use the FBS tools to drive sustainable improvement in results)
Ensure successful kaizen events by ensuring compliance to the kaizen process, which includes (1) planning of Kaizens with a dynamic funnel process tied to PD and Daily Management, (2) kaizen execution and (3) sustainment of Kaizens.
Promote and facilitate diagnosis of workflow impediments and other wastes throughout the business, and provide expert counsel on appropriate FBS tools to eliminate them;
Drive targeted, sustainable improvement that is tied to Policy Deployment (PD) and Daily Management (DM) through FBS tools, consulting skills, and implementation management process.
Communicate progress of continuous improvement efforts. Provide leadership to ensure results are sustained.
Collaborate with internal and external business partners (including the corporate Fortive FBS team) to benchmark performance and build knowledge of industry best in class practices to guide decisions on implementation of projects.
Ensure accurate training and participation records are established and maintained.
Improve FBS training and facilitation skills by pursuing own certification in FBS tools.
May be assigned additional projects and responsibilities at the sole discretion of the manager/supervisor.

Education & Experience Required:
BA or BS or equivalent experience in Engineering, or similar field. MBA or equivalent experience preferred.
5 or more years of demonstrated experience in developing engineered product/processes.
Experience in SolidWorks, preferred. Other 3D modeling systems a plus
Project management of engineering products including launch
DFMEA, PFMEA, Process Validation and six sigma analysis
Project Management
Strong analytical and data driven problem solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and to develop and maintain strong business partner relationships.
The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of personnel and production issues.
Strong desire to learn and drive lean principles.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite skills
