OBJECTIVE
Manager, Young Farmer Objective
To manage the affairs of the Michigan Farm Bureau (MFB) Young Farmer (YF) Department and assist the county Farm Bureaus with the development and maintenance of the Young Farmer committees. To provide support, vision, and resources to help counties attract and retain YFs in the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manager, Young Farmer Responsibilities
Manage the State YF Committee, helping the executive committee set relevant and realistic agendas, lead productive and efficient meetings, and achieve committee and programmatic goals.
Manage the activities, business plan and accompanying budget for YF programs, Young Farmer Leaders Conference, State YF Committee, and YF Trust Fund. Maintain a complete record of financial expenditures and records within YF programs. Prepare invoices, bank deposits, and pay bills as required. Log and complete expense reports.
Lead and execute the cultivation, nomination, approval, onboarding, and engagement of members of the State YF committee in cooperation with Regional Managers and the MFB Board of Directors.
Train the State YF Committee to support county committee volunteers and lead statewide events and initiatives. Assist State YF Committee in developing and carrying out goals and objectives.
Recruit and train county volunteers, in concert with county and state Farm Bureau leadership, to implement and manage effective county YF committees.
QUALIFICATIONS
Manager, Young Farmer Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in agriculture, education, communication, public relations, or communications required, or equivalent experience may be considered.
Minimum five years of experience in the agricultural industry required.
Must possess a valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred
Five years of management experience preferred.
Experience working with and training volunteers preferred.
