POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manager, Tech Finance, Capital Projects is responsible for the oversight of all financial aspects of capital projects related to technology. Responsibilities include preparation of financial business models, and financial plans, as well as the compilation, review, and analysis of actual expenditures. Also, the position requires delivery of executive presentations/reporting and governance compliance. Specifically, budgets include labor hours, rate, and mix, as well as goods and services provided by third parties. Participation in the design and execution of strong internal controls is also a requirement, as well as contributions to optimal negotiations on contract proposals.
The position is expected to display considerable initiative, independent judgment, and leadership skills in performing financial activities. Strong knowledge of internal controls, and presentation skills are required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee a team of Financial AnalystsResponsible for assisting the business to deliver projects on budget. Prepare and maintain financial business models, financial plans, and forecasts (including spending curves), ensuring all project requirements and objectives are properly documented and budgeted.Prepare financial analysis for each project and report findings in a timely manner, ensuring that risks and issues are reviewed and resolved in collaboration with internal and external constituents. Prepare, review, and submit any required information to Accounting for proper classification and recording of Capital Projects.Interact frequently with CAR Managers and Company Leadership to ensure timely and accurate project plans and forecasts.Ensure all aspects of a project comply with corporate policies and procedures, including proper Capital Project Approvals for new and amended initiatives as well as proper capitalization of expenses.Provide support, guidance, and training on the financial aspects of a project.Prepare frequent executive financial reports for various levels of management across the Corporation. Ad-hoc analysis of expenditures, and project scope, as required.Audit capital projects for compliance.Responsible for the development and update of the Capital annual and 5-year strategic plan. Responsible for the short term strategy for the overall department/function.Develop and implement financial procedures and standards as needed.Ensure efficient utilization of staff and non-labor resources.Identify and implement expense optimization opportunities.Performs other duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in business related major, Finance or Accounting preferred.CPA preferred.Minimum 8-10 years related work experience. Solid understanding of accounting rules for expense, deferred expense, and capital activitiesTech Finance or technology related experience highly preferredSolid understanding of Tech estimation activities and tools preferred.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Proven leadership and management skillsMust have excellent interpersonal, organization, verbal & written communication skills.Must have strong analytical and critical/strategic thinking skills. Must be meticulous.Must be able to work under tight timelines, prioritizing responsibilities as needed.Must work independently with minimal supervision.Experience utilizing project plans, issue logs, risk/mitigation strategies is preferred.Proven ability to collaborate with technical peers and management; ability to work with all levels of the organization.Clear understanding of capital vs non-capital expendituresAccepts accountability and manages execution. Must have ability to adapt to shifting priorities and align activities to meet organizational goals. Experienced in Microsoft Excel, Word, & PowerPoint. Experience with Apptio and/or labor tracking applications is preferred.
