  Responsibilities

  Reporting to the Executive Director Research Administration, the Grant Operations Manager, Office of Awards, will lead administration of extramural grant awards from application preparation, submission, award, performance and close-out (the grant award life cycle). This role works closely with the Revenue & Fund Operations Manager, Office of Awards to partner in developing post-award management policies and workflows, thus assuring a high quality, effective, efficient and compliant support platform for the Dignity Health Arizona Research Enterprise (DHARE).

  This position is responsible for fostering productive relationships with faculty, investigators, department chairs and departmental research program managers, DH institutional leadership, peer institutions, awarding agency sponsors and other stakeholders. This position also initiates strategies and tools to improve service excellence and processes to identify grant opportunities, develop and submit grant proposals, and ensure compliance with post-award obligations. Additional responsibilities include administering time and effort obligations, developing policies and work instructions and all other administrative transactions required to lead grant management functions within the DHARE Office of Awards.

  The incumbent uses advanced research administration concepts to independently manage a diverse scope of transactions, including highly complex issues and regulations ensuring that the needs of Principal Investigators, Program Directors and administrative staff are met, in the context of institutional compliance. Must have significant knowledge, understanding and experience in the grant application and award process within a large academic institution including awareness of differences in funding source entities (federal, private, etc.) and related regulatory compliance obligations required at the institutional level to develop and lead the Office of Award Management.

  Qualifications

  Experience

  7 years of work experience or combination of education and experience required.

  10 years of work experience or combination of education and experience preferred.

  Education

  Bachelor's degree Advanced degree in Healthcare Administration or related field

  Licensure

  CITI Training Certificate or completion within 3 months required

  Certified Research Administrator preferred

  Experience with the administration of federal, state and private foundation grant awards.

  Exceptional project planning, management and organizational skills, with the demonstrated ability to drive multiple concurrent projects to completion.

  Strong quantitative, analytic and problem solving skills to evaluate all aspects of the situation and make appropriate and timely decisions.

  Ability to work closely and effectively with diverse teams, including faculty, administrators, sponsors, policy makers, and the private sector in a wide range of disciplines.

  High-level of comfort working in Google & Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, Lawson Accounting software, and a grants management software system.

  Experience addressing complex business process issues and using a systematic approach to develop and implement solutions.

  Working knowledge of NIH, state and other federal sponsor grants policy requirements, current and emerging research administration issues and trends.

  Experience with Federal A-133 Audits and implementation of compliant systems to ensure adherence to Federal OMB Circular requirements.

  Pay Range

  $46.96 - $68.10 /hour
