Position Summary
The Manager of Project Support is responsible for leading a team of coordinators and project managers responsible for order, backlog, and/or logistics management. This includes responsibility for both project and replacement business. The Manager’s assigned team handles capital project orders in support of USA and Canada Healthcare sales. Responsibilities include partnering with Account Managers, Regional Sales Directors, District Service Managers, Shared Services Directors, Zone Service Directors and Vice Presidents, to ensure timely execution of project orders. The Manager will ensure assigned projects are done accurately, on-time and in adherence to Terms and Conditions of the Contract and will develop and enforce consistent, repeatable project management procedures and processes. Continuous improvement, increased service levels and cost containment methods will be developed and implemented by the Manager.
This role can be located in Vernon Hills, IL or Mentor, OH.
Duties
Manages a team of Sales Coordinators, Associate Project Managers, Project Managers, and Supervisors responsible for handling complex project orders as well as replacement orders and returns and trade-ins
Oversees successful execution of project management through review and approval of project terms, conditions, pricing and expectations
Directs large project process and is responsible for successful execution of project business including creating, modifying and implementing process improvements to increase efficiencies for the Team and decrease overall project cost
Responsible for overall Customer experience for order, backlog, and/or logistics management, including post-order evaluation with development and implementation of process improvements
Collaborates with Sales on large project quotes and bids to secure new business; ensures timely, accurate submittal of quotes and bids
Facilitates meetings with Planning, Sales, Manufacturing, Traffic and Service as required in support of business and follows up to ensure deadlines are met to ensure successful project completion
Responsible for financial decisions in line with Region Manager authority for expedite and consolidation costs, warehousing and storage charges, and approving free goods orders.
Oversees tasks, including but not limited to, order processing, change order management, backlog management, and logistics management; assigns business tasks to responsible supporting functions
Develops department processes and procedures to ensure excellent service levels and positive Customer communications are achieved and maintained
Collaborates with Sales Leadership to maintain high service levels to support the needs of our capital and consumables sales teams.
Provides feedback to Business Unit Leaders and Sales Leadership on a scheduled basis
Provides feedback to team and supporting departments on challenges and opportunities, issue resolution and develops an implementation and execution plan for process improvements
Leads the continuous improvement initiatives within the function including leadership standard work, key performance indicators and root cause counter measures, visual management, and standard work
Assumes responsibility as Team Leader in Kaizen events and respective action plans
Leverages process understanding and value based prioritization to initiate continuous improvement opportunities that maximize department efficiency and effectiveness for supported businesses
10% travel expected to develop Customer relationships and determine Customer requirements for successful project completion
Required Experience
Bachelor degree in business discipline required; MBA preferred
3 to 5 years with STERIS preferred
Demonstrated track record as a strong manager
2-3 years management experience
Strong influencing and negotiation skills
Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills
2 years project management experience
