Position: Manager III-PM Data Governance (New York, NY)
Bank of Montreal seeks Manager III-PM Data Governance in New York, NY to support business and technology partners to help create a culture where data is managed as a valuable corporate asset. Develop and implement integrated roadmaps to guide the review, design, implementation, and ongoing operation of data governance practices and data management processes in alignment with Enterprise Data Governance Operating Directive in applicable areas of the organization. Develop data solutions and makes recommendations based on an understanding of the business strategy and stakeholder needs. Support assessments, root cause analyses, and formulation of proposed solutions and remediation strategies for review and approval. Escalate data and compliance issues. Assist in the development of strategic plans. Lead the identification, analysis and resolution of issues, recommending appropriate solutions. Lead working groups to identify opportunities and formulate recommendations for improving enterprise data governance capabilities and processes, and work with applicable parties to plan, design and implement approved recommendations. Define, implement, and document data quality measures and provide guidance on how data governance may translate to business processes. Mentor employees to foster professional development. Foster a culture aligned to BMO purpose, values and strategy and role model BMO values and behaviors in all that they do. Ensure alignment between values and behavior that fosters diversity and inclusion. Build interdependent teams that collaborate across functional and operating groups to create the highest value for all stakeholders. Lead or participate in defining the communication plan designed to positively influence or change behavior; develop tailored messaging about data governance; and identify appropriate distribution channels. Perform database and application tuning and capacity planning in order to verify that the business requirements are met within the Service Level Agreement (SLA) and standards. Participate in the timely resolution of operating and technical problems or manage escalation with other BMO technical groups. Assist in the identification of change impacts through requirements gathering, mapping and documenting current and proposed processes. Provide support on data management process implementation and sustainment activities to ensure stakeholder awareness and adoption of data governance in work, including but not limited to development of business tools, end use procedure documentation. Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and ensure alignment. Support development and execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus. Provide specialized consulting, analytical and technical support. Exercise judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules. Apply data architecture knowledge of trade desks’ order management systems – including Bloomberg TOMS, Fidessa, and Bondfire -- as well as post-trade systems including IMPACT, BPS and Calypso -- develop and implement integrated roadmaps to guide the review, design, implementation, and ongoing operation of data governance practices and data management processes in alignment with Enterprise Data Governance Operating Directive. Apply knowledge of relational database to efficiently mine data using SQL commands and to perform data slicing. Use data transformation skills to reconcile multiple systems’ data to drive insights. Develop solutions via data analysis using advanced Excel – including formulas, VLOOKUP, and Pivot Tables -- on reconciled data to produce valuable business insights and drive relevant remediation effort and cost-saving initiatives. Build sustainable and scalable data visualization solutions using Power BI and Excel (VBA and Pivot Tables) that allow management and executives to digest complex data easily and facilitate business decisions. Identify inefficiencies in the current state, drive initiatives in a timely manner and provide transparency to stakeholders. Leverage technologies including MS Project, MS SharePoint, JIRA and Excel to define, implement, and document data improvement measures and provide guidance on the ways in which data governance may translate to business processes. Lead working groups to identify opportunities and formulate recommendations for improving enterprise data governance capabilities and processes, and work with applicable parties to plan, design and implement approved recommendations. Develop data solutions that cater to the new regulations under regulatory authorities under the U.S. (FDIC, SEC), Canada (IIROC, Montreal Exchange) and EU (MiFID). Lead data-driven initiatives by utilizing third party vendors to enhance data quality, build requirements for reporting data controls and work with operational teams to integrate new processes and workflows. Requires: Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, or a related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus two (2) years of experience as an operations specialist, analyst, or related job title performing data governance. Specific skills/other requirements - Must also possess the following (quantitative experience requirements not applicable to this section): Analyzing data for middle office trading using settlement systems, including DSTS, Bloomberg, Broadridge(IMPACT and BPS), and Fidessa; utilizing Business Intelligence (BI) tools, including Tableau, PowerBI, and relational databases; performing complex data reconciliation and data remediation utilizing advanced Excel (including VBA and Vlookups) and SQL; utilizing financial products and market data across different asset classes, including Fixed Income and Equities; identifying dependencies and articulating impacts and consequences; and experience running projects for Data Management and Data Governance for investment bank.
Salary: $114,386-$148,000 USD per year

Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked.
