  Job Overview

  TE Connectivity's Trade Compliance Teams interpret laws, rules, and regulations regarding shipping and prepare applications for import/export control certifications and licenses.

  Overview: We are building a world class Global Trade Services (GTS) organization, including Operational Service Centers focused on critical trade services. This role is for a China Customs Manager under the Customs & Corporate Services Center (CCS) in APAC region, which is responsible for supporting centralized core activities to manage Customs and Imports-related projects in all locations in China where TE operates, as a critical part of the APAC regional trade compliance practices.

  This role will be responsible for managing key aspects of the Customs & Corporate Services Center, delivering centralized management of Customs brokers, valuation, regional support of Customs audits, and other aspects of Customs compliance to support TE's operations. Key responsibilities relate to the Customs & Corporate Services Center (CCS) include but are not limited to strategy development, program design and execution, training, and systems deployment and optimization. The role reports to Regional Sr. Manager - APAC Customs & Corporate Services Center, joining a team of global trade professionals who are passionate about ensuring the future growth of the business by providing business solutions for compliance with global trade laws and regulations.

  Responsibilities:

  • Considered the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in China Customs Regulations

  • Execute all aspects of the China Customs Compliance for the Customs & Corporate Services Center, including Customs broker management, valuation, audit activities, Customs program support and other shared Customs services.

  • Maintain TE operations and compliance activities in accordance with applicable customs and import laws and regulations, TE policies, procedures, and controls, in collaboration with GTS Governance Team, and other service areas.

  • Maintain Service Level Agreements with Global Trade Services Operational Compliance teams, including Segment, and Business Unit leads, to ensure sound and consistent business practices and broad company awareness to Customs and Corporate Services requirements.

  • Leading customs audits directly and indirectly in China. Define and execute corrective action plans.

  • Monitor and maintain customs simplified procedures and program statuses for TE Legal entities in China.

  • Design and leverage trade data analytics to identify compliance risks, cost-savings opportunities, and other metrics of value and effectiveness.

  • Contribute to strategic projects focused on enhancing capabilities of TE's systems impacted by customs considerations to drive efficiencies and cost savings for the company.

  • Partner with GTS Governance to monitor trade compliance regulatory and legislative changes, assess the potential impact to the business, and determine the necessary actions and communications with the appropriate stakeholders.

  • Partner with GTS Governance to review competitive contracts, evaluate scope of services and ensure that TE receives best-in-class partners, services, and systems.

  • Conduct periodic planning sessions in collaboration with GTS Governance, and Operational Compliance teams to align on strategy, results, and opportunities.

  Requirement

  • Bachelor's degree required (international relations, supply chain, law, or related field preferred)

  • 8+ years of experience in international trade, focusing primarily on China trade compliance and management of Customs imports programs.

  • Preferred: 3+ years of experience in communications, industrial, or transportation industries

  • Preferred: 3+ years of experience in functional leadership or senior management

  • Experience with direct supervision of personnel and developing, creating, and managing a compliance team.

  • Functional knowledge of customs I/Export & in/outbound topics across China

  • Demonstrated ability to design, deploy, and administer effective trade compliance policies and processes into business operational practices.

  • Proven ability to build trust and interact seamlessly with a variety of business groups in a dynamic global organization.

  • Proven ability to execute and provide results despite challenges and setbacks.

  • Excellent organizational habits and priority management

  • Customer focused with a commitment to quality.

  • Experience in leading teams remotely

  • Experience in the cooperation of the corporate functional team and the BU operational team in China

  • Lead in customs valuation project and direct/indirect interface to customs.

  • Direct management of the brokerage agency including KPI review and RFQ renew, including centralized day-to-day declaration.

  • Experience in the trade health-check for the MNC in the industry of the electrical and electronic products

  • Familiar with the procedure, the customs system and annual reconciliation of the bonded warehouse and EPZ

  • Training for the BUs and the audience in the region

  • Experience of the global logistics and warehouse operation, in Shanghai and Shenzhen, is a plus.

  • AEO verification experience is a plus.

  • Exposure and awareness of collaboration in the APAC region is a plus.

  • Some travel may be necessary in fulfillment of responsibilities 10-20%
