In this position you will...
This role is a management position in Product development, leading approximately 35 people, responsible for the technical design and release of Ford electrified Power Unit systems, electrified beam axles, and a limited number of traditional multispeed transmissions used in for Ford Electric, Hybrid, and Internal Combustion based vehicles.
What you'll do...
Lead a department of people responsible for global Design & Release engineering
Lead systems interaction, execution, and industrialization of internally designed and manufactured Ford 8F transmissions
Lead systems interaction, execution, and industrialization of internally designed and manufactured and/or externally purchased eBeams, generators and transfer drives in Ford next generation series PHEVs
Lead Systems Engineering, Program Control, and Electrified Performance, Development, & Verification activities
Execute upfront design, analytical & physical verification, and industrialization deliverables
Execute current model quality, TVM & Global Design Cost attack for current model units
Evaluate vehicle inputs, internal unit design architecture and tradeoffs, and system outputs to achieve best in industry execution
Understand and can lead a team through GPDS program gateways and deliverables, and flex / adjust appropriately to balance risks to delivery in non-standard program timing
Has prior experience in Transmission, Driveline, and/or EV Unit program delivery in Power Unit, Gearbox, and/or eDrive arenas
Has proven delivery of balanced Quality/Cost/Weight/Function/Timing attributes
You'll have…
Has electrified power unit and/or electrified transmission experience + traditional step transmission experience in efficient design & delivery
Has experience leading powertrain unit and program deliveries
BS in Mechanical and/or electrical required and Master’s in product development or EV systems preferred
Knows the ideal function, noise factors, error states and control factors specific to transmission and driveline execution in hybrid and electric vehicles
Has proven power unit and/or EV systems design and release execution through the GPDS process
Experience in Systems Design, Program Control, Testing, and Component design and delivery preferred
A clear communicator and highly motivated to exceed expectations in a constantly changing product landscape
