Description
The Mammography Clinician functions as a clinical expert and role model in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for a specific patient population. Will demonstrate expertise in the role components of Practitioner, Teacher, Clinical Expert, and Researcher, with emphasis on demonstrating mastery of practical and theoretical knowledge in clinical situations. Collaborates with Radiology Leadership in developing & implementing unit's Mission, Vision, and Goals.
Monitors compliance and adherence to established procedures.
Monitors the appropriateness of patient care assignments based on patient care requirements and staff competence.
Demonstrates advanced leadership and management skills.
Serves as arbitrator in resolution of conflicts between staff.
Takes appropriate action to correct unacceptable practice as needed.
Actively participates in developing and monitoring staff competency.
Coordinates, facilitates, and ensures the development and revision of all technical aspects of department operations.
Provides direct patient care for all procedures common to the area of concentration.
Assists physician and nurse to identify, develop, conduct, document and evaluate patient and family education based on direct patient care issues.
Regularly evaluates the impact of procedures pertaining to specialized patient populations; identifies recurring technical problems; recommends changes in procedures.
Implements and develops revisions to improve the quality of patient care.
Through process monitoring, bench marking and research, identifies ways to improve the quality of patient care outcomes.
Focuses on direct patient care, collects data, participates in new drug and product investigation, implements and evaluates the effectiveness of new procedures and their impact on the technological requirements of the procedures.
Provides clarification to less experienced patient care staff on interpretation of diagnostic data, abnormal physical findings, or atypical behavioral responses.
Develops, conducts, and evaluates in services provided for staff; conducts new staff, student and preceptor orientation programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology and registered with the ARRT.
Must have a minimum of four (4) years experience in diagnostic and invasive mammography.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock , Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
