Job Description:
Under general direction, is responsible for Truck Fleet Maintenance and Site Maintenance for product (premix, manufactured feeds, ingredient blends of dry feed ingredients), manufacturing and general fleet maintenance. This position will provide daily work direction to subordinates to minimize truck fleet and plant downtime and maximize output. The incumbent will conduct daily work direction and safety meetings with the group and will be accountable to the plant manager for execution of daily and weekly execution of a preventive and reactive maintenance schedule. The position will work indirectly with the Logistics Manager, Production Manager and Safety Manager to implement initiatives that result in optimal performance of truck and trailer fleet, quality products, quality facility and cost control, and to ensure that all repairs are following DOT regulations, safe work practices and feed safety requirements. Work with direct reports and plant and regional leadership to increase overall truck fleet performance, plant efficiency, and profitability of the business.
Job Duties:
-Select, train, and develop an effective and efficient staff
-Establish daily and weekly schedules and hold subordinates accountable for completion of assigned tasks.
-Execute a plant preventive maintenance schedule to ensure compliance to OSHA and Feed Safety requirements.
-Establish and communicate performance standards & objectives and conduct performance reviews.
-Recommend/approve salary adjustments, promotions, transfers, and dismissals.
-Monitor operations and staff and implement changes in methods, procedures, structures, and recommend additions or changes in personnel to secure optimum utilization
of resources.
-Counsel employees on educational and job opportunities which will enhance their career development, and keep staff informed of current problems, changes, and new developments in
the department and company by conducting periodic meetings.
-Ensure employees and the facility follow all governmental regulations (FDA, OSHA, EPA, DOT, SF/SF).
-Develop plans that maximize the efficient utilization of all subordinates. (Mechanic & Maintenance staff)
-Ensure the facility is properly cleaned, organized and maintained, both inside and out.
-Responsible for the timely submission of all requests for information or reports and ensure all
subordinate reports are submitted on time.
-Maintain company equipment.
-Maintain a valid state-issued driver's license and an acceptable driving record within company guidelines.
-Assure utilization and assist with implementation of Fleet and Facility Maintenance program.
-Ensure supplies and parts are sourced in a timely and economical manner.
-Ensure the efficient operation of truck fleet, blending facility, product contracts and alliances while maximizing return on assets employed through execution of an effective preventive maintenance plan and daily execution of repair priorities.
-Work with the Director of Transportation, Director of Operations and Director of Engineering and other applicable parties in the development of 3-year capital improvement plans. =
-Perform other work-related tasks as requested or required.
