About Maintenance Technician - 2nd Shift

  You will find our products in home improvement centers, big box retailers, hardware stores and automotive parts chains.  They can also be found in the automobiles you drive, the trailers you pull and the heavy duty equipment that operates all around you.

  MAT Industries in Jackson, TN is searching for a Maintenance Technician for our 2nd shift operation. Hours are 3:30 pm - 2:00 am, Monday - Thursday, If needed, overtime would be scheduled for Friday and/or Saturday.  If you have a great work ethic (reporting for work as scheduled), motivated and able to complete job functions without direct supervision, please see below. 

  Eligible for $1000 Sign-on Bonus after 120 days of employment.

  Benefits effective on 60th day of employment. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, vacation, Personal/Sick time.

   

   

  SUMMARY:  This person will be responsible for performing a wide range of repairs on production and facility related equipment, while maintaining a clean & safe work environment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

   

  Promote safe work practices by following company safety policies.

  Maintain a clean work area and promote company 5S policies. 

  Perform electrical and mechanical repairs as well as PM’s on equipment and facilities

  Identify root causes of maintenance downtime and implement corrective actions to prevent downtime.

  Order repair parts for maintenance repairs to equipment and facilities.

  Identify critical parts and make recommendations on additional spare parts inventory.

  QUALIFICATIONS:

  EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  High School Diploma or equivalent and completion of a two year vocational maintenance training program or apprenticeship program with an emphasis in industrial maintenance is required.  The ideal candidate would have experience in the following areas;

  Minimum 5 years multi-skilled mechanical and electrical maintenance experience.

  Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

  Knowledgeable in troubleshooting Allen Bradley PLCs.

  Must have a working knowledge of National Electric Code

  Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal, written, electronic, etc…

  Must be self-motivated and proven strong leadership skills.

  Able to identify problems and implement corrective actions to prevent equipment downtime.

  Must have excellent decision-making and team motivational skills.

  Ability to adjust to multiple demands, shifting work priorities, adversity, and changes.

  Must be willing to have a flexible work schedule that supports production and process improvements

  JOB PREREQUISITES:

  Ability to meet attendance standards.  All full-time employees are required to work a 40-hr week.  At times it may be necessary to work additional hours in order to get the required tasks accomplished to meet deadlines. 

  Highly motivated, well-organized.

  Maintain high personal standards of quality.

  Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as effectively communicating with management and direct reports. Should have the ability to recognize communication gaps and appropriately address them.

  Excellent problem solving and team motivational skills are a must.

  Must be flexibility and adapt to changes in the work environment as well as managing competing demands. May require flexible hours when necessary to reach company goals.

  Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work with a large variety of individuals, including production personnel, maintenance personnel, manufacturing engineers, management and outside contactors

  PHYSICAL DEMANDS, MENTAL REQUIREMENTS, AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  The position is subject to extended periods of sitting depending on the nature of the issues at hand. Along with this is the occasional lifting of boxes and bending or crouching.

  Ability to hear accurately the spoken word with moderate office noise or plant noise

  Ability to comprehend and follow instructions

  Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to a given workload

  Ability to follow work rules and company policies. 

  Ability to meet deadlines and effectively deal with office stress

  Ability to make generalizations, evaluations or decision without immediate supervision

  Maintain confidentiality of certain information
