Reference #: 2024-010Machinist    Description/Job SummarySet up, operate, and tend milling or planning machines to mill, plan, shape, groove, or profile metal pieces and inspect parts. Must work in a safe and efficient manner so as to beproductive, while maintaining high quality.

　　Responsibilities/Duties

　　Knowledge of shop mathematics and instruments, such as micro meters, venier gages, dial indicators, thread gauges, and scales.Applied experience in making machine parts to specification using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers and grinders.Applied knowledge of proper use of band saws, presses and drill press.Set up, adjust and operate all the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation of tools in order to perform precision machine operations.Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure compliance with specification.Must be able to perform welding operations as required.Knowledge of specifications, such as blue print sketches and machining sequences.Set up and operate milling machine to face mill, flat mill, form mill, cut keyRequires the use of judgment to plan and make set up.Determine speeds, feeds and tooling for milling.Must have the ability to set feed and speed rates.Must have the ability to grind and sharpen drill bits.Show the ability to lay out and make parts.Must be able to drill and tap straight holes.Must have the ability to adjust machine gear fits to within .0002 thousandths of an inch.Must have knowledge to grind rubber rollers.Keep aisle ways free of clutter    Required SkillsHigh school graduate or equivalent
