6:45 pm - 7:00 am
Day-to-Day Role:
Follow and commit to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for safety, quality, production, efficiency, and service requirements
Follow practices and processes intended to provide safe products that comply with appropriate laws and regulations, meet the company quality standards
Follow and commit to safety and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
Set up, start, adjust, test, calibrate, operate, diagnose, troubleshoot and properly shut down process equipment in accordance with published production schedules and product specifications.
Set up and operate computer-controlled machines or robots to control one or more machine functions
Operate and monitor process machinery from raw materials through downstream finished goods, ensuring quality and consistency
Adjust equipment as needed to maximize up time, rates and yields
Monitor equipment for mechanical problems by listening for unusual noises and visually checking gears, hoses, gauges, materials, etc.
Troubleshoot and fix equipment and/or material problems
Diagnose and change out defective parts
Use advanced measuring equipment such as micrometers, scales, scanners
Implement programs to standardize and minimize production changeovers and machine downtime
Perform general preventative maintenance on equipment (i.e. fill lube lines, lube chain rails, grease guns, etc.)
Maintain production logs and reports as required
Promptly notify the Maintenance Department of any maintenance required
Notify supervisor of significant deviations from normal operating conditions
Perform back-up Inspector Packer responsibilities during break and lunch periods
Train other Machine Operators as required
Perform production process in SAP as required
No supervisory responsibilities
Core Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal Machine Operator candidate must possess all of the following:
Math skills to include simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
Familiar with and ability to convert decimals to fractions or vice versa
Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic problems including knowledge of machines and tools, their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
Ability to observe, follow, understand, and evaluate processes demonstrated and other workplace procedures
Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues
In addition to the above, Machine Operator II candidates must possess:
One (1) year experience operating manufacturing and process control equipment or equivalent technical school or apprentice experience
Previous plant production software experience
In addition to the above, Machine Operator III candidates must possess:
Two (2) years of experience operating manufacturing and process control equipment or equivalent technical school or apprentice experience
Specific experience operating thermoforming, injection molding and/or extrusion machines
Advanced knowledge of machines and material processes
Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
Experience working in a manufacturing environment
Technical school or apprenticeship experience
Previous powered industrial truck experience
SAP experience
Paper converting, chemical/plastics processing and/or packaging industrial experience
Five (5) years’ experience operating manufacturing and process control equipment or equivalent technical school or apprentice experience
