Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) Residency – October 2024

Integrated into a Hospital’s education structure, the Texas Health LVN Residency Program includes a guided clinical experience with an instructor-led core curriculum, a formal mentoring program, informative debriefing/self-care sessions and supportive 360-degree evaluations. Residents not only participate in the learning experience on their personally selected home units, but they also rotate/cross train through other departments to gain an expanded nursing experience vital to the complex patient care.

The Texas Health LVN Program is a comprehensive, evidence based on-boarding program with a 15-month employment commitment that offers new LVN’s an exciting opportunity to gain the experience, judgment, skills, and confidence to successfully navigate the complexity of hospital life.

Where you will be working:

· Work location: Texas Health Fort Worth 1301 Pennsylvania Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104

· Work environment: Med/Surg Telemetry Department; we are a 38-bed unit; nurse to patient ration is 1-4 or 1-5 depending on call-ins, or which hall you are in. We are a fast-paced unit with high acuity patients. What separates us from regular med/surg is the telemetry part. We can take certain cardiac drips, chest tubes, and TR bands. Our unit is fun and great to work on if you are looking to learn a lot, grow your basic nursing skills, and work with great colleagues. We are an energetic unit, who celebrates a lot, and we provide compassionate care to our patients and make them feel like family.

· Work hours: Full-time, (3)-12-hour shifts; Rotating weekends, Holidays, and on call shifts required.

Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth is an 815-bed, Magnet-designated regional referral center that has served the residents of Tarrant County and surroundings communities since 1930. Hospital services include cardiovascular care, high-risk obstetrics, gynecology, orthopedics and sports medicine, neonatal intensive care, and trauma/emergency medicine. Things you need for the position:

Graduate of an accredited vocational nursing program required

Acceptance into THR residency program required

Graduated within the last 12 months preferred

Less than one-year experience at the time the residency begins preferred

Have not previously completed a THR nursing residency preferred

LVN - Licensed Vocational Nurse upon hire required

BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required

CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training maintained annually 90 days required
