The Alternative Pathways Center’s (APC) mission is to give alternative learners an opportunity to obtain a Biddeford High School diploma through individualized, project-based coursework combined with pre-vocational training, work experience, and social and emotional learning.
At APC students are provided an opportunity to learn and grow in a small, supportive, non-traditional environment that promotes learning, respect for self and others, relationship building, and the ultimate goal of developing positive members of our community. Develops and administers Humanities curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.2. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials to provide customized, small and large group instruction.3. Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.4. Build relationships with students to help encourage success, increase self-esteem and cultivate a sense of belonging in school and community.5. Regularly assesses each student’s academic and social growth, maintains appropriate and timely records, and preparesprogress reports.6. Communicates with parents through conferences and other means such as newsletters, email, phone calls, student information system postings (as applicable), web pages, blogs, and other electronic means to discuss student’sprogress as it relates to curriculum.7. Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members to help students assess and benefit from the district curriculum.8. Understand and apply effective strategies for intervention and differentiation in the classroom, including serving English language learners and students with individualized education plans (IEPs).
