Job Description
The Logistics Manager role requires effectively and efficiently managing the flow of materials throughout the extended value stream, ensuring adequate inventory levels to meet customer needs and production targets, optimizing logistics costs by applying continuous improvement processes and providing excellent customer service. The Logistics Manager assures proper finished goods and component planning based on customer needs, Charlotte production scheduling and inventory targets. The Logistics Manager will be responsible for materials management, production control and customer service. Other duties will include:
Guides the logistics team in the ordering and procurement of raw materials and finished goods.
Leads the logistics team in the planning and scheduling of production orders.
Directs the logistics team in communication and feedback to external and internal customers.
Collaborates with sales to assure effective demand planning process.
Modifies and improves existing logistics processes to optimize inventory, forecast accuracy, delivery performance, lead time and transportation cost.
Analyzes and tracks key planning parameters, i.e. delivery performance, lead time, order changes, inventory levels, premium freight development, obsolescence, forecast accuracy etc.
Participates in cross-functional System Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) and Value Stream Mapping activities.
Applies CIP methodology and lean logistics principles (Bosch Production System) to optimize performance.
Manages interfaces to both suppliers and customers incl. forecasting, performance reviews and communication.
Collaborates with purchasing team to optimize supply base.
Directs the policies, objectives and initiatives established by the Charlotte plant and Bosch Rexroth Corp.
Hires, coaches and mentors direct reports.
Drives and champions best practices across planning related logistics processes to achieve business plan and operational targets.
Provides strategic guidance, information and feedback for team decision making.
Communicates key initiatives, direction and vision to internal and external stakeholders.
Ensures adequate logistics performance to satisfy both internal and external customer needs.
Qualifications
Qualifications
BS degree & at least 10 years prior Logistics experience. Master’s degree preferred.
Preferred possess:
A working knowledge of lean manufacturing (BPS), logistics, and modern manufacturing concepts.
Effective interpersonal skills
SAP MRP experience; MS Office proficiency
Must demonstrate the ability to:
Lead groups and delegate tasks
Follow-up effectively to ensure successful implementation
Work independently
Communicate effectively both written and orally
Must demonstrate a high level of teamwork, customer focus, and initiative.
Must be flexible (welcome and adaptable to change), including working hours
Demonstrate discipline and consistency regarding adherence to established standards, policies, and procedures.
Comprehensive knowledge in production and inventory control methods.
Analytical ability to review fluctuating demands and to minimize production changes and inventory investments.
Able to identify, analyze and resolve problems.
Sense of urgency, attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
