Function:
This is positions sits within the NAM Logistics Operations team and reports into the Vice President of Logistics.
Diageo North America has a total Logistics spend of $390m split between warehousing ($110m), transportation ($250m) and bulk ($30m). In Fiscal year 2024 we have an ambitious target to deliver over $30m of value creation through removing inefficiencies as well as delivering productivity.
The purpose of this role is to lead the long-term logistics strategy.
About the Role:
Diageo’s Logistics network has a number of external providers with two transport management companies handling the domestic finished goods deliveries, one transport management company handling the bulk, one transport management company handling the exports and a number of 3PL partners in our warehousing footprint. In addition to this external network there is an experienced and established internal Logistics operations team.The successful candidate will partner across this external network and with the internal Logistics operations team as well as other key cross functional teams to develop and implement the long-term logistics strategy.This a new role which will be responsible for leading a team of 4 people who will all be focused on developing and delivering our longer-term Logistics strategy. The team will have a focus on carrier development, accessing innovation, delivering our Society 2030 ambition (covering sustainability as well as carrier diversity commitments) and using data and analytics to develop our value creation pipeline.The logistics strategy will need to focus on our five priority areas; service, security, cost, carrier diversity and sustainability. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing the strategy, engaging the business on the strategy and benefits to ensure consensus and leading the team through the implementation.The business is also looking to achieve several strategic supply chain projects which will impact the existing logistics network and this role will be critical to the successful implementation of these projects.
Experience required/Skills/Capabilities/Languages:
To be successful in this role you will have:
Leadership capability in Supply Chain10+ years operational and Supply Chain experience.Ability to demonstrate successful network, influencing and communication skills at a senior level and the ability to demonstrate success in Supply Chain functional and/or business integration roles.Ability to see the future and support and contribute to a future design for NAM Logistics to support an integrated supply chain with reduced complexity to support simpler way of working and value creation.Evidence of designing and leading at least one major implementation in the supply chain areaThe individual will also need to be dedicated and comfortable working independently and in an environment of complexity, diversity and ambiguity.Change management capabilities are crucialAbility to lead teams of a cross functional nature and provide clear direction, support and resolution to issues / risksPeople management
