The Opportunity
You will collaborate across Nutanix to support procurement of new technologies impacting product, engineering, cloud services, and artificial intelligence initiatives, among others, supporting best practices across product development and engineering as well as procurement - implementing policies and procedures while providing guidance and education. This role requires a proactive legal operative with a bias for action, a self-starter who loves and understands enterprise technology, builds strong, collaborative relationships with business stakeholders, takes initiative to drive complex, cross-functional projects and is not afraid to step outside of the comfort zone to tackle the task of the day.

Nutanix’s legal team responsible for supporting an exciting range of initiatives, including our product portfolio, privacy and security, as well as business and corporate development, is looking for an experienced Licensing Counsel. Your Role
Partner with Procurement, Commercial Legal, Product Development, Engineering, Developer Productivity, and Information Technology teams to implement best practices for inbound third party license management and compliance
Review and negotiate licensing terms in licensing / cloud services / partner agreements related to product development and engineering, as well as artificial intelligence initiatives
Support the design and implementation of standards, processes, controls and tools for third party compliance and legal release management.
Guide teams in meeting third party license compliance obligations training, and documentation
Serve as the first point of contact on inbound vendor review and onboarding matters impacting product and engineering. Collaborate with Procurement, Security, IT and other teams and exercise judgment in further engagement and escalations for resolution
Develop and deliver training and communications on inbound licensing and security topics
What You Will Bring
5+ years of post-qualification experience, with relevant privacy law experience at a reputable law firm and in-house with a global enterprise technology company
Prior experience in commercial and/or procurement counsel roles
Deep understanding or software licensing practices with knowledge of security and data governance consideration
Demonstrated ability to work efficiently across the organization, including successfully initiating, managing, and completing simultaneous projects and new initiatives with cross-functional teams under deadline pressure
Demonstrated ability to develop, launch, and maintain processes and procedures for privacy compliance and data governance
Strategic problem-solving skills with excelling legal and business judgment and the flexibility to take on a variety of tasks and challenges
Proven ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work and to drive projects to completion autonomously and as part of a team
Understanding of software development processes and cloud computing services, and the privacy nuances of each
Sense of humor, excellent interpersonal skills, business judgment, strategic thinking, superior work ethic, flexibility, ability to work independently and a passion for cutting-edge technology
Fluency in English, additional languages are a plus
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Flexera and ServiceNow tools
Experience with privacy and data governance in cloud computing services and common enterprise systems (e.g. SFDC, Workday, etc…) with an understanding of software development processes,
One or several industry-recognized privacy, security, or program / project management certification(s)
Understanding of security principles
ISO / SOC experience
