The Department of Developmental Services(DDS) seeks compassionate nursing professionals to apply for ourLICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE I (LPN I) positions. This is an excellent entrylevel nursing opportunity for potential candidates who are interested infurthering their career and broadening their nursing experience toindividuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The LPN Iis the first level in the series and candidates will deliver care to ourindividuals living in a community residential home setting Please Note:Based on assignment, candidates may be eligible for various paydifferentials. Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a generalsummary and not all inclusive): - Provide exceptional nursing care andoversight by implementing the individuals\' health care plan includingcharting vital signs, application of medical/surgical dressings, andadministering medications as prescribed and directed by theprimary/specialty physician - Assist with daily maintenance, personalcare and other services of support as outlined in the Individual ServicePlan (ISP); Maintain individual records and files - Initiate referralsfor needed medical services including scheduling, hospital safeguarding,advocacy and other follow-up care; Engage in referral for supportive andhealth-related protections - Communicate health issues to staff andupdate the individuals\' families/guardians in matters includinghospitalizations, rehabilitation support such as physical/occupationaltherapy - Inform staff of any medical concerns related to activity levelthat may hinder and individual\'s progress - Order medications andmaintain medical supplies, materials and equipment - Initiate emergencymedical procedures by applying basic first aid techniques and/or CPR andtracheotomy care, and catheterizations; - Provide training for directsupport staff on use of equipment and treatments - Transport individualsto work, medical appointments, recreational activities and othercommunity engagements as needed Position Requirements: - Must possess acurrent, active license to practice as an LPN in the Commonwealth ofMassachusetts. - Must possess a current and valid Class D Motor VehicleOperator\'s License - Incumbents must obtain and maintain Health CareProvider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Please Note: Dependingon assignment, some LPN positions may be assigned to locations thatrequire 24/7 nursing staff.
