DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
HPL is seeking an energetic, self-motivated Librarian III for Adult and Multicultural Programs. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Adult and Multicultural Programs, the successful candidate will be responsible for diverse, equitable, inclusive public programs geared toward adult, senior and multicultural populations. The successful candidate will have exceptional customer service and communication skills, be adept at managing multiple programs and collaborating with internal team members on delivery and measurement of program success. The person must have experience handling substantially complex and varied administrative functions, be skilled at managing confidential matters and information of a highly sensitive nature. Attention to the diverse specific and unique needs of the program populations served is required.
Essential job duties for the the Librarian III-Adult and Multicultural Programs include:
Plan, develop, coordinate, and deliver quality library programs for adults, seniors, and multicultural communities that are responsive to community needs including virtual and live programs and events.
Plan for multicultural events, authors/speakers, and programs
Develops methods to gauge community interest and respond to community needs for programs.
Function as liaison to community groups and organizations, promoting and coordinating library programs and events.
Cultivate, develop, and nurture community, vendor and/or partner relationships, including external library program performers, visiting authors and other program providers.
Work in collaboration with highly dynamic stakeholder teams within the organization and externally
Establish objective program performance measurements using library industry analysis, customer feedback, and best practices to evaluate and monitor program effectiveness and impact to the community.
Manages the allocation of assigned budget and monitor expenditures.
Responds to inquiries, requests, and complaints as directed.
Performs administrative work to include financial documents, agreements, purchase requests, volunteer coordination, maintaining statistics and reporting.
Plans and leads regularly scheduled systemwide meetings for Adult Services and/or Multicultural Programs
Supervises, trains, and evaluates program planning staff
Performing other duties as assigned by Adult and Multicultural Programs Administration Manager or System-wide Programs Deputy Assistant Director
May require some evenings and weekends (Saturdays)

WORKING CONDITIONS
The position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort, I.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Master of Library Science degree from a school accredited by the American Library Association.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Three (3) years of library experience are required, including one (1) year of management experience.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
A valid Driver's License and compliance with the City of Houston policy on driving (AP 2-2).
