Description
Robert Half is seeking a Legal Secretary for its large law firm client with an office in the East Bay (near BART / hybrid telecommute remotely 2 days/week). The qualifications for the position are the following: 3+ years of experience as a litigation legal secretary; preparation of various pleadings including discovery, law and motion matters, writs, appellate pleadings and briefs; knowledge of e-filing in state and federal court; and adept at providing general administrative support.
This is an established law firm with long-term, happy staff (low turnover) and friendly, flexible management. The annual base salary range is $80,000 – 100,000+/yr, DOE, and the employment benefits offered are very generous. 37.5 hour work week. Requirements
Proficiency in database management
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Comprehension of civil litigation
Practical knowledge of filing in state courts
Hands-on experience with reviewing documents for spelling and grammar
Adeptness in federal court civil procedure
Foundational knowledge in exhibit lists
Exposure to public zoning, planning and land use law is a plus, but not required
Solid understanding of proofreading
Demonstrated knowledge of scheduling
Prior experience with typing 45 - 60 words per minute
Earlier work involving evidence summary
Scanning experience highly preferred
Case management experience preferred
Good understanding of Microsoft Word
General familiarity with e-file
Travel arrangements experience highly desired
Experience with Microsoft Excel
Expense reports experience desired
Background working with pleadings
Appellate courts experience
Red Lining experience highly valued
Filing litigation experience required
Previous experience working with service of process
Should be savvy with word processing and spreadsheets
Hands-on experience with legal correspondence and court filing procedures is a plus
Solid knowledge / understanding of local jurisdictional and federal court rules and procedures
Strong time management skills preferred
