Responsibilities If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing substantive legal support to the District of Virgin Islands. Typical work assignments will include: Performs a variety of duties requiring the application of legal evaluations of litigation support service needs, ranging from litigation processes, legal terminology, local court rules and court procedures. Provides technical assistance to Attorney's in a developmental capacity to facilitate the management of incoming and outgoing document discovery in accordance with e-Discovery and other procedural requirements. Performs basic legal research; gathers and analyzes data and evaluates its usefulness in resolving legal issues. Utilizes automated resources and technology for the development, presentation, and litigation of federal cases, including legal research tools. Utilizes a variety of Automated Litigation Support (ALS) software applications to locate, organize, analyze, characterizes and present information that is pertinent to the government's position in the case. *Responsibilities will increase, and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progresses. * Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-09: To be eligible at the GS-09 level, you must have at least one full year experience at the GS-07 level and Specialized Experience. Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level. Specialized experience is defined as: assisting an attorney with trial preparation, including making recommendations on how to proceed with trial presentations; utilizing office automation tools in order to create physical and digital trial presentations; working with investigators, agents, and legal support staff; handling a wide variety of evidence and discovery; and providing technical assistance to litigation teams. Education: One of the following types of education in a related field (e.g., Criminal Justice, Law): a Master's or equivalent graduate degree (such as an LL.B. or J.D.); OR two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. To qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 1 full year.
