The Graham School and UChicago Professional Education are currentlyseeking qualified applicants for a part-time lecturer position to teachin our Master of Science in Biomedical Informatics. Current Universityfaculty and staff, as well as professionals working in relevantpositions outside of the University, are eligible to apply. Courses areheld in person at our downtown Chicago campus.
Demand for more sophisticated health information systems and medicalresearch methodologies is rapidly growing due to advances in technology,the volume of available health data, and policy initiatives. With a highpremium placed on improved delivery of care, therapeutics, and outcomes.The skills students acquire in the Master of Science in BiomedicalInformatics prepare them to master the foundation of informatics anddevelop solutions to address these growing needs and current healthcarechallenges. Applicants must have relevant experience in biomedicalinformatics, clinical care, medical research, or practical experience inhealth care related fields.
The program currently operates on a quarterly schedule, in an eveningand weekend format, with classes held weekly, 9 or 10 weeks ofinstruction per quarter.

Develop syllabus including weekly class schedule, learning objectives,discussion topics, reading assignments, and assessment plans usinggrading rubrics.
Develop Canvas Learning Management System course site.
Develop and deliver in-class content (i.e., lectures, activities, groupprojects).
Develop asynchronous content which supplements the in-class learningexperience (recorded lectures, discussion board content, project, andresearch work).
Develop assignments to minimally include mid-term, final assignments,and course participation grade.
Grade assignments and return comments and grades to students via thelearning management system in a timely manner.
Attend all weekly in-person and/or remote synchronous sessions.
Hold weekly office hours to coincide with the course schedule.Instructors are expected to spend at least 3-6 hours per week meetingwith students outside of the classroom experience.
Attend quarterly instructor meetings coordinated and hosted by programstaff.
Work with the program director and other program instructors to ensureconsistency across class sections and participate in curriculum reviews.
Participate in Capstone Project process as scientific advisor.
Participate in co-curricular programming (i.e., guest lectures,instructor/student events).
Supplemental asynchronous content and remote synchronous instructionmethods must be developed and planne in conjunction with Graham Schooland UChicago Professional Education online instructional design and/orteaching and learning teams and approved by the program.
After initial review of applications, candidates may be requested tosubmit a course proposal.
Qualifications
Qualified applicants must have a graduate-level degree in a relevantfield, PhD and/or MD is preferred.
