Responsibilities :
In the Propulsion Modeling & Simulation Engineer role, you will be an integral part of the Aerothermal systems design team supporting the next generation of engine architectures and currently fielded products
This role focuses on supporting the aerothermal component and system modeling necessary to support Preliminary Design, Steady-State Performance, Transient Analysis, Operability, Controls, and other disciplines
In the role of Propulsion Modeling & Simulation Engineer, you will develop and maintain cycle performance models
Developing physics-based aerothermal system models that behave reasonably throughout the operational envelope
Resolving model issues through understanding both the physical system, the modeling that represents it, as well as the numerical iteration methods used to solve the system
Packaging models for delivery to customers and integration into rigs or simulators
Creating, developing, and integrating aerothermal models of individual components, physical processes, and subsystem models, that constitute an overall system model
Leading design reviews of modeling approach, functionality, and validity
Executing with limited guidance the analysis/evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices, and procedures and the product/program requirements
Recommending approaches to meet the technical and program requirements
Assuring proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Monitoring and communicating project status, business issues, and significant developments
Participating as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
Take full ownership of integrated gas turbine propulsion system component thermal design, including flow and thermal modeling
Iterate with aero and mechanical teams to identify a thermal design that meets temperature and flow requirements
Basic Hiring Criteria :
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited University or College
Minimum 3 years of experience in a gas turbine engineering position
Desired Qualifications :
Experience conducting thermal calculations for gas turbines or related component design is required
Experience conducting 3D thermal modeling is required
Must be familiar with tools such as 1D flow solver and 3D thermal software
Specific experience with Ansys Workbench is desired
Specific experience with flow simulation software such as Flow Simulator is desired
