Job Description Summary
The Lead Engineer is the technical guarantor ofthe proper performance of design works conducted in
his/her field of activity, in matter of committed design budget (man days), deadline and Quality, in line
with Customer expectation, while promoting ease of installation, operationand maintenance ofthe
system.
He/she plans basic and detailed design activities, manages & oversees detailed executionprogress,
coordinates delivery of required engineering documentation forprocurement,manufacturing and site
erection associated to concerned activity, based on Customerspecifications and requirement, and
internal standards. He/she coordinates elaboration of documents done internally or through
subcontracting
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
Establish, based on tender and contract analysis, and project strategy, the list of documents to produce for his/her field of activity.
Evaluates with PEM or PM engineering workload and deliverables dates for concerned package, and commits to such budget in man days and in time delivery.
Ensures on-time delivery of design, including Partner documents, to stakeholders with suitable quality.
Anticipate and mitigate delivery issues and recommend changes.
Lead & coordinate his/her design team. Manage and monitor detailed execution progress and short-term plan.
Request from PEM or PM required technical coordination meetings with partner or key suppliers if when appropriate to synchronize respective designs.
Measure design physical progress on relevant studies and provides PEM with relevant data for evaluation of ETTC.
Informs PEM / PM of design issues all along project execution and propose range of solutions for decision; follow solutions agreed up to resolution.
Updates risk assessment related to engineering &applies mitigation plan when required.
Pro-actively generate and manage opportunities.
Analyse and ensures compliance to customer technical requirements.
Support Sourcing and Procurement in the definition of the Supplier’s list according to the project strategy.
Manage technical interface with sub suppliers & partners, prepare input data , check consistency.
Required qualifications:
Engineering Degree (HV electrical function of field of activity involved)
Over 10 years engineering experience in the related activity/discipline, preferably in project & EPC type environment in T&D system, Power Gen, Renewable projects (Wind Form, Solar)
Some experience in position of Lead Engineer
Knowledge of HV primary design for both AIS-substation and GIS substation Including:
Single Line Diagram
HV equipment sizing calculation and selection.
Substation and equipment layout/Section
Grounding system calculation and installation documents
Lightning system calculation and installation documents
Power cable system
LV cable system
Interface register with third parties.
System study including:
Load flow
Short circuit
Dynamic study
Harmonic study
Insulation coordination study
RAM study
FMECA study
Knowledge of Project organisation and engineering processes related to his/herscope of activity.
Experience of project technical management processes, preferably in a multi-disciplinary teams context with multiple interfaces. Experience in technical problem solving.
Several experiences in managing externally subcontracted design work package of various sizes.
English working knowledge with willingness to work in various locations for short or medium period and to travel worldwide.
User knowledge of AutoCAD DIgSILENT – Power factory and PSSE
