Residents and faculty from the University of Kansas School ofMedicine--Wichitas Internal Medicine Department provide patient carethrough our clinic. As the Lead Medical Assistant, you will provideprimary clinical support for Dr. Donna Sweet and assist with themanagement of day-to-day operations in the clinics back office. We arededicated to continuous quality improvement while providing highquality, efficient health care to patients. We have an amazing staffthat promotes teamwork, supports each other, and engages in how theclinic operates.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Prepares charts for Dr. Sweet
Provides staff oversight and establishes accountability to ensure thatMedical Assistants work as a team to deliver efficient, patient-centeredhealthcare
Supports the Nurse Manager in the training, development, and competencyevaluation of the Medical Assistant staff, monitoring of patient visittime and experience, staff compliance with organizations infectioncontrol protocols, medication management, vaccine cold chain handlingand storage, and ensuring appropriate stock levels of clinical supplies
Rooming patients for providers, including chart prep, chief complaint,HPI, medication reconciliation and obtaining vitals
Performing care-related tasks such as administration of immunizationsand injections, CLIA-waived lab testing, suture/staple removal, EKGs,wound care, x-rays (if certified), and assisting with in-officeprocedures
Responding to telephone calls from patients, pharmacies, and othermedical professionals and relaying provider orders and/or results formedications, labs, imaging, and DME
Cleaning and stocking exam rooms and sterilizing instruments
Participating in clinic process improvement activities and team meetingsto ensure efficient operations; acts as a designated lead for pilotingnew clinical processes and clinical equipment
Reliable attendance and punctuality
Performing other duties as assigned
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
Graduate of Accredited Medical Assistant Program
Experience:
Two to five years medical office experience required
One year previous supervisory experience preferred
EHR experience preferred (we use eClinicalWorks)
Microsoft Office experience a plus
Monday-Friday; 8am-5pm*
