Direct the daily routine inspection and preventive maintenance of all equipment and department facilities. Direct the daily cleaning of equipment and facilities. Direct the daily training for all areas of firefighting and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to ensure all training is up to date. Ensure safety and proper personal protective equipment (PPE) use in and around the fire station as well as on all calls involving fire personnel. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes leading a crew of firefighters controlling or extinguishing fires and performing rescue operations; detecting, reducing, or eliminating potential fire hazards; performing fire prevention inspection duties; and assessing patient's conditions to administer basic treatment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this level you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone - no substitution of education for experience is permitted. In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement above, applicants must also possess the certifications as outlined in the Required Documents sections below in accordance with DoD 6055.06-M. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Emergency Medical Care Firefighting Equipment Hazardous Materials Response Managing Human Resources Vehicle Operation Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. This is an Installations Career Field position. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Position may be filled as a temporary promotion, temporary reassignment, or temporary change to lower grade NTE 1 Year by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions, reassignments, or changes to lower grade may be extended up to a maximum of five years, and may be made permanent without further competition. Position may be filled as a temporary appointment NTE 1 Year, if the candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three years. As a team leader, you must comply with the Army Civilian Education System (CES) course and timeline requirements. The Foundation Course (FC) must be completed within one year of placement into a leader position. Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances may be authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations and an agency determination that a PCS move is in the Government Interest. This position may offer a recruitment bonus to individuals who are newly appointed as civilians in the Federal Government. You are considered newly appointed if this is your first appointment as a civilian employee in the Federal Government or if you have a minimum of a 90-day break in service from a previous Federal civilian position. You may qualify with a break in service of less than 90 days only if your previous Federal civilian appointment was a time-limited or non-permanent appointment. You will be required to sign a service agreement prior to your entry on duty. This position may offer a relocation incentive to applicants if they are a current Federal government employee who is relocating from more than 50 miles from Fort McCoy. You will be required to sign a service agreement prior to your entry on duty. This position may offer the Student Loan Repayment program (SLRP). Participants must sign a service agreement prior to your entry on duty and maintain an acceptable level of performance to remain eligible for this program. Salary negotiations for candidates new to Federal service may be authorized. Credit for prior non-Federal experience and certain military service for leave accrual rates MAY be authorized but must be established prior to entry on duty. This position is obligated.
